Y'all know we don't have any of the official CoD men heights, right?
I dunno who decided König was both a colonel (he's not) and 6'-fucking-10", but that model is the same height as everyone else. Yeah campaign cutscenes, but in game? There's two heights, man and woman. Now am I against this? Hell no! It just means I can do this- >:)
If CoD men were SHORTER than their CoD man S.O.
Includes: Nikolai x Price, Ghost x Soap, Gaz x Roach, and Alejandro x Rodolfo. No Red in this one, don't ask me why.
Price < Nikolai
If Price was shorter than Nikolai...
So this is the version I personally enjoy. Big, fat, hairy bear Price, getting out done in all of those categories. To his men? He's huge. To his man?? Fuck, he comes up to just below eye level. He's bratty about it as well, constantly bitching when Nik puts something too high up (he does it on purpose) and squirming away from his relentless forehead kisses. His breaking point though? When Nikolai pins him up against the wall, slotting his leg between Price's as so he can rest on something higher up while on his tippy toes. He melts like a stick of butter left out in the Texas heat. He can barely even form words in the pink mush he calls a brain when Nik picks him up, carrying him to the bedroom like he weighs nothing. Maybe being smaller isn't all that bad after all, aye John?
Nikolai < Price
If Nikolai was taller than Price...
Now- here is our first instance of taller ≠ bottom or submissive. I'd say their heights are swapped from the first one, Nik just being a few inches shorter than Price. He's still tall, no doubt about it, but he does have to crane his neck to look Price in the eyes. Does that stop him though? Absolutely not. He's putting on his tallest heels (drag Nik beloved) and towering over John. He's shoving the man into a seat and sitting in his lap. He's grinning as he watches John throw his head back in pleasure, not stopping for even a moment. On a more wholesome note- Nik has a fondness of headbutting Price like a cat. He'll bonk his face into Price's mouth, basically giving himself a forehead smooch. He'll tuck his head under Price's neck while they cuddle, not caring that Price can no longer see the TV. He's shorter, yes, but he's still very much in control.
Ghost < Soap (hear me out)
If Ghost was shorter than Soap...
LET ME HAVE THIS- Y'ALL HAVE NO IDEA. So one of my biggest pet-peevs with how people draw Soap is that they make him so... Twink-y. Do me a favor and pull up a picture of that man- he's built like a fucking square! His arms can barely even be contained by his shirt, he does that stupid little caveman walk he does when getting off the heli (aka the walk big tall people do, trust me on this one). He. Is. Big. So why can't he be bigger than Ghost? Not even bigger like wider, I'm talking bigger in all senses of the word. Ghost is honestly a little scared when meeting him for the first time... This huge-ass Scottish man with a dumbass hairstyle comes up to him and *touches* him? Not even Gaz was that brave when he first met him... Ghost isn't fully sure what to do with himself, often just freezing whenever Soap does anything with his hight. Forehead kiss? Blue screen. Reaches above him for something? He's standing there for the next few minutes, looking like an idiot. The only reason the fandom never has Soap taller is because poor Ghost would break on the spot.
Soap < Ghost
If Soap was shorter than Ghost...
What do you want me to say? It's the fandom opinion. He's a brat, he's adorable and kissable and Ghost slings him over his shoulder. The end.
Gaz < Roach
If Gaz was shorter than Roach...
So I think in this case, because of the lack of official info, I'm going to make it more "what if Roach was taller than Gaz". Gaz is an average height, Roach is this tall lanky dude who shoved himself into increasingly small spaces. And Gaz? Gaz is fucking crazy over it. He likes the familiar shadow, the feeling of someone leaning on him and resting their chin on his head, the warmth of getting squished up against a chest. I think he's the most normal about it though. Sure it's hot, yes he loves topping someone so tall, but day to day? He's more concerned about warning his love about short doorframes than anything... And if he's secretly glad about being under 6'? Well that's no one's business but his own.
Roach < Gaz
Small bug being held up like a creature. The end.
Alejandro < Rudy
If Alejandro was Shorter than Rodolfo...
This one honestly makes me a bit feral. Fennec can confirm, I'm *not* normal about dom! Rodolfo. Pair that with physically being larger than Alejandro...? He's not nice about it either, using his hight and size to his advantage all the time. And Alejandro? Well Alejandro is replacing his third pair of jeans this week after ruining them. Sometimes the colonel just needs to turn his brain off, let someone bigger than him take care of him. He trusts his Sargent Major, trusts him with the power he holds. Yeah they like to play around with the height difference but at the end of the day? Alejandro feels safe with the mountain of a man. A (not so) gentle giant who can take control and let Ale just get to relax for once.
Rodolfo < Alejandro
If Rodolfo was shorter than Alejandro...
Oop- we got another short dom! Literally the same dynamic as the last one, big spoon and all. Except *maybe* he makes Ale reach the top shelf, no shame about it either. So what if he can't reach? He has an obedient pet boyfriend to do it for him. Again with the comfort, except this time it's more symbolic than physical. Alejandro is still letting go and giving power to Rudy, he's still curling into his chest as the other man wraps his arms around his torso, except now it's an even clearer display of trust and comfort. Rudy gets to be the big boss, to comfort and care, even while dealing with a man who towers over him.

GATEKEEPER + FIRST TIME
[summary goes here if i feel like it]
CONTAINS: GN Reader, sub gatekeeper, top gatekeeper, bottom reader
WORD COUNT: 551
(NSFW UNDER CUT)

you've always thought gatekeeper was a hottie. from the moment you laid eyes on him, you knew you had to convince him to stop gatekeeping that dick and let you at it.
it may not be easy, but you had just the plan to seduce him.
*****
"hey gatekeeper how big is that dick"
"small now leave me alone."
*****
maybe your plan wasn't as smooth as you thought it was, it seems you haven't put enough points into your rizz stat yet to get him... maybe if you work on it, you can become the rizzlord you were always meant to be
you do multiple fetch quests for people aronud you and pay some trainers to increase your rizz stat (of course, proceeding to immediatley pick pocket the gold you spent back because you'r a cheapskate.) and slowly but surely, you cheese the system until you have enough to put some skill points into the "fucking old men category". gatekeeper isn't even old but he's such a bitch about everything tgat he might as well be
back on your mission, you give it another shot.
*****
You find gatekeeper walking down a hall, arms full of papers. You know exactly how to get him.
You hide behind a corner and wait for him to come by to walk out. You bump into him and papers go flying everywhere! it's a mess! oh no! Gatekeeper is pissed!
"you just scattered all my papers!"
"and i'll scatter all of your clothes next" you wink
he gasps like a conservative grandmother being told her grandchild doesn't like her casserole. It's a good sign you think. You press harder.
"you wanna fuck me soooooo bad come on you know you wanna."
he stares at you, wide eyes and blushing like mad.
"😳!"
"how the fuck did you say that out loud."
he doesn't answer, instead grabbing you and dragging you into a conveniently nearby conveniently open and conveneiontely empty storage closet with a conveniently locking from the inside door. He gives you a look
yuo have him exaclty where you want him. you give him a stern look and he immediately drops his pant to reveal his perfectly average erection. you follow suit and pull up the gender neutral skirt i just decided you're wearing for convenient plot reasons to expose your hole to him
"fuck me"
"sir yes sir 😳"
"how the hell..."
you never would have guessed gatekeeper to be so submissive and breedable like that one song by smosh (yes like from youtube look it up), but you're not about to complain when your finally getting what you've wanted for so long.
he inserts his penis into you, missing all the right spots.
"am i doing it right 🥺?"
you look at him in confusion
"no wait really how do you keep doing that"
he takes your lack of complaints as permission to start going at it. plap plap plap goes the penis. wow what hot passionate sex you have.
god i can't fucking finsht ehis this is what you get im writing this at ass early in the morning i can't do it anymore
you bang. he somehow gets pregnant. you leave the country and leave him a single father of triplets who all look exactly like him. mitosis. the end.

PGR characters as people you meet in high school
Lucia - The quiet kid whos also really popular for some reason. She doesn’t seem talk to people that much but for some reason everyone seems to know and like her somehow. I don’t even think she knows most of their names
Lee - The robotics/gamer kid who somehow has an unreasonable amount of rizz Also one of the quiet ones. Ngl I feel like Gray Raven is just that quiet friend group who always does their own thing and eats lunch in the art room together or smth. Lee by all means seems like he’s be sort of a loser, but no, he’s got EVERYONE trying to tap his non existent ass. I have this type of friend, I have no idea why but they (yeah there are two of em) always pull the baddest bitches. It’s insane.
Liv - The shy and kind kid Liv is the kid that nobody makes fun of because if you did, you would have the entire school on your ass. She is that nice, and absolute angel. Though I feel like she’s also the quiet kid you should be scared of, most people are smart enough not to fuck with her but a few weren’t.
Chrome - The golden child/overachiever This man. He’s on the principal’s list, he’s got a bunch of scholarships lined up for him, multiple extracurriculars, plus he’s rich, nice, and hot. This is the kid that has EVERYTHING it’s insane. But he definitely deserves it, and he’s always willing to help with homework. Suffers from bad taste in men (Vonnegut) because from my experience, all the kids of this kind do. Like that is the only thing wrong with them, their romantic preferences.
Kamui - The class clown and gamer kid Ngl I think he would be made fun of, but he’s just such a nice guy honestly. Another member of the disciples of rizz, somehow always pulls some bad bitches. I feel like he would wear blatant anime merch and maybe those wolf hoodies tho. Also big ass headphones all the time. Sorry Kamui stans.
Camu - Gamer boy part 2 + gets in trouble a lot He also vapes in the washroom when skipping class. Really good at one subject, barely average in the rest. I want to say that he’s the hot Wattpad delinquent bad boy, but he’s a hardcore gamer so he doesn’t get that luxury. Skips school quite a bit, gets into a lot of fights. Yeah.
Wanshi - The kid who never shows up for class We all have that one friend who never shows up to school right? Yeah, that’s Wanshi. Except he probably shows up on test days or for big projects. He still passes tho. Textbook definition of really smart, just lazy.
Karenina - The loud girl that’s always got beef I don’t like her. She seems like that basic ass bitch who is actually always mad at everything and really mean to the guy she likes. But not in a cute way, just annoying. Decent grades, probably argues with the teacher tho. Yeah, we all know this kid right?
Bianca - The Christian white girl who has a rebellious phase later I don’t like Bianca either, but I feel like every textbook Lulu Lemon/Aritzia Christian white girl eventually goes through a rebellious phase or abandons religion completely. Source? I go to a Catholic private school. I know what I’m talking about.
Watanabe - The actual hot delinquent Sorry Camu, Watanabe gets to be the Wattpad boy. He’s just so cold around anyone that isn’t Gray Raven/Kamui that I think he’s just that kid. He’s not an asshole though, minds his own business most of the time but gets into a lot of fights. He’s also something like a big brother to everyone. Teachers hate him though. Also skips fairly often, but he’s always at parties. Mostly as the designated driver. To everyone’s surprise, he wants to be a teacher and that is what he goes and does after high school.
Luna - The popular girl with all the tea I just know Luna hears absolutely everything and uses it as black mail. She’s pretty chill and likeable most of the time though, hence why she’s so popular. Probably on the student council methinks. Pretty good grades too.
Alpha - The popular athletic kid She doesn’t strike me as a tomboy necessarily, just athletic. And gay as fuck. I don’t know what it is guys, I think it might be the Doc Martens. I feel like when she’s not doing sports she’s the cool alt girl everyone wishes they were. Gets into fights and always wins them. Surprisingly, she’s well likes by teachers because she’s pretty quiet in class.
Roland - The theatre/show choir kid You all saw this one coming from a mile away. I said show choir kid too because show choir kids are actually an entirely different breed of crazy. Like we nutty as fuck. (yes, I am a show choir kid, point and laugh guys) Super flamboyant and shows off a lot- worst part is it’s actually always really impressive. Doc Martens wearer number 2, probably made a shrine to Lin Manuel Miranda in the washroom as a joke once, or a Pedro Pascal one. Either or.
Might make a part two and a bonus round for my OCs, idk hope you liked these

oh if you left snow white in bed all alone i am going to kill you
okay yes that is some tongue

JADE IN THE ICONIC YELLOW CARDIGAN
jade: omg what is wrong bestie uea: *war flashbacks to cock* sleep deprivaton
the fact jade is always drinking boba is just so in character. not that we know much all about his character but the point still stands. he is a boba boy.
oh that "mom" needs the bin asap. and you can't add a "we need to talk" text to that, king, you and your jawline need to time things better.
oh no. shit is about to go down in the copy room.
i love the alleged king of one night stands not comprehending one night stand etiquette. boy is down bad.
king: seriously uea: i am avoiding avoiding the subject, that's how deep my avoidance goes
they are just so laskdfjasdklfjsadlkfjaslkjfoierjudfj

I JUST SAW FIGHT CLUB AND HOOOLLYYY-
Bro could you IMAGINE FightClub!Bakugo?
Tw:noncon, language, harassment
Okay okay get this: you’re down in the basement listening to the usual men holler and punch each other around while you do your job as their cute little “accountant”. While many of them have good jobs and a real life, the actual members don’t have time or the intellect to juggle the numbers and money around as fast as you can. You’ve been coming here for a while now, and you’re used to the jeers and wolf-whistles coming your way since you’re basically one of the few or only women who dare to come down here.
But there’s one fighter who just can’t seem to take no for an answer.
Bakugo fucking Katsuki.
The man is ruthless, he’s relentless, he’s a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. You swear he’s had to have taken a shitload of steroids in his youth, otherwise how else could he have built up that much muscle? There’s no way an average gym-goer has that kinda build.
He’s always the first and the last one out in the rink, swaying back and forth with his fists up, a twisted grin on his face that was so reminiscent of a wolf before it lunges for its prey.
It usually took more than two men to pull him off the unconscious bodies that he had just beaten to a pulp, effectively breaking one of Fight Clubs Rules: get up when someone is down.
But he’s too good to let go, no one has the balls to tell him to take his money somewhere else since they’re all scared shitless of him.
Which leads him to believing that he’s practically a god down here, that he can conquer anything: including you.
No one really calls it harassment because no one really cares. What’s so wrong in a guy having a little crush? What, you came down here seeing all this testosterone but you can’t deal with it yourself? Don’t be a prudish bitch.
“Bakugo, I’m at work right now, I don’t want to.”
“C’mon toots, this ain’t even real work, you’re just fumblin’ my hard earned cash.” He grins slyly and crosses his bulging muscular arms, leaning against the doorway of the little office you’re given to work your magic.
You turn in your rickety seat and glare at him, ignoring the way he licks his lips and lets his eyes roam all over your body. “If I’m so shit at my work then go somewhere else and stop bothering me.”
He chuckles in his baritone voice and shakes his head at you. “Naw, can’t do that sweets. If I did then I’d never be able to see your pretty face again now, could I?” Bakugo leers at you and you turn your face in disgust.
“I don’t wanna go out for lunch, or ever with you. Now get out before I have to call someone in here.”
“Oh, is that so?” He uncrosses his arms and steps through the threshold, his body growing larger and more menacing as he slowly draws closer to you. Luckily a fight had broken out near the office months ago so there was no more door from the aftereffects, but that didn’t mean you felt safe even with open space.
“G-get out. I’m serious, Bakugo-“
“-Call me Katsuki, angel. And you don’t really mean that, do you? Look at you, you can barely look me in the eye when you say such mean things.” His voice drops an octave as he comes to stand in front of your seated form, towering above your wide eyes, clenched fists and trembling figure.
He leans down and you flinch and gasp as his breath ghosts over your face. He places both arms on either side of your chair so you have nowhere to look but him.
“You’re such a nice breath of fresh hair down here, through all the blood and violence. You’re like a flower...” he tucks a stray hair behind your ear and breaths out a laugh when you turn your head and squeeze your eyes shut.
“A flower, so fragile...a flower that smells so fucking good...” you feel like you can’t properly breathe as he leans in next to your ear and inhales deeply.
“A flower waiting to be deflowered herself.”
“What’s going on here?” A lanky body in the doorway appears.
Bakugo pulls back and turns his head ever so slightly towards the dude, growling under his breath at the interruption.
“We’re in the middle of something here, so you can just get the fuck ou-“
“-Well, it doesn’t really look like she’s into whatever you’re doing,” the man scoffs and takes in your pale face and shaking hands.
Bakugo stands to his fullest height, almost neck and neck with the man at the door.
“Yeah? I didn’t hear a complaint from her.” He cocks his head and stretches, allowing his muscles to ripple with each movement, something that didn’t go unseen by your much skinnier savior.
But he doesn’t back down. He only swallows and rubs the back of his neck.
“Well, we’re all being called out to put our bets in for the next match anyways, so you better come out before we get our asses kicked.”
The blond grumbles about weak men and no balls, then casts a dark look at your frozen figure before shouldering past the man at the door, almost knocking him down.
As soon as he’s out of your line of vision, you exhale and relax into your seat.
“You okay?” The fallen soldier scrambles back up and cautiously approaches you, looking over your body in a way that didn’t remind you of Bakugo undressing you with his eyes...rather, it was a protective, and worried once-over.
“Yeah, he’s just...a lot to handle sometimes. Doesn’t know when to quit.” You laugh shakily and run a hand through your hair.
“No wonder the dude’s a menace. He’s used to getting what he wants, I guess.” The man acknowledges this grimly, and for the first time you’re relieved that finally someone hasn’t turned a blind eye to your harassment.
“Are they really calling us down for bets?”
“No, I just said that to get him off your ass. Didn’t seem like you liked whatever he was doing.”
You give him a wobbly smile and he returns it.
“Sooo we should probably run before he comes back up here, right?”
“Oh most definitely,” you actually giggle before leaping out of your seat and joining the man to bound up the steps two at a time to freedom.
You both end up bonding pretty well over the weeks, even going out for coffee and lunch dates here and there. You’ve come to really like him, his shyer demeanor more than a majority of the ragtag men down in the basements, his chivalry refreshing to you amongst the blood and foul language thrown around the ring.
You feel like a woman with him, not some piece of ass like you were used to.
Bakugo noticed all this, of course. You started avidly avoiding him, ducking your head down and hiding behind your new ally before he could open his coarse mouth and stalk towards you. He couldn’t find you in your dingy office anymore either, because your savior was up in a cafe doing the calculations with you, laughing away about the latest matches.
That has to change. Effective immediately.
“Yo, newbie. How you been? Haven’t seen you fightin’ here for a while,” Bakugo claps his meaty hand on the scrawny guy’s back, nearing sending him toppling over.
“Yeah, y’know, just haven’t been feeling it lately.” He rubs the stinging feeling away from his sore shoulders and side eyes the blond suspiciously. He had seen firsthand just how bad-news of a guy he was, and he didn’t wanna get caught up in all that.
But Katsuki wasn’t just all brawn. He had some brains, too.
“Look, I know I prolly gave off a weird first impression with Y/N back then. But it’s all in good health, ‘was just messin’ around like I always do.”
“Yeah, sure...”
“How ‘bout we get some coffee or somethin’? You seem like a solid dude, plus we got shit in common to talk about.”
Like fucking around with my bitch.
“Uh, you sure? I kinda’ wanted to see the last fight,” he trails off unsuredly, scratching his jaw as Katsuki steers him away from the growing crowd.
“There’ll always be fights, man. I wanna show you that I’m a nice guy.”
Bakugo Katsuki was not a nice guy.
And everyone knew that too, which is why when some shifted to give the duo a curious glance he met them with a death glare. Any gazes locked on Katsuki’s hand wrapped around the lanky guy’s shoulders were immediately casted down.
You didn’t see your savior for a while.
It had been two weeks since he mysteriously disappeared from his usual place in the outskirts of the crowd, because unbeknownst to you, a certain fighter was keeping him away from you and convincing him to have a friendly brawl over lunch.
You only found out about it on a Friday night, when a crowd much bigger than before was gathered in the dim basement, voices hushed and whispering.
“What’s going on? Why’s everyone so quiet?” You whisper to one of the usuals.
“‘Heard Bakugo’s fighting some dude that was handpicked by himself. He somehow managed to convince the poor bastard to have some kinda’ match with him.”
You felt your heart sinking.
“Who did he pick?”
“‘Dunno, some skinny guy, a newbie I think. Hasn’t been around for too long so I guess he doesn’t know how big of a monster he’s gonna be beaten by.” The groupie shrugged, and you felt the blood drain from your face.
Without saying another word, you spun around and started running around all over the place looking for either of the two.
You end up stumbling into the men’s bathroom, desperate beyond salvation to stop this bloodbath.
He’s there, he’s at the urinal and he yelps when he hears you barge in. You avert your eyes and let his adjust himself as he sputters indignantly.
“Y/N? What’re you doing in here? This is a men’s-“
“Don’t fight him.”
“What?”
“Don’t fight Bakugo, please, he’s gonna kill you, I know he is-“
“-Calm down, what’re you so worked up about? C’mon, I would’ve thought you’d had a little bit more faith in me to be able to stand my ground.” He teases you but you don’t find it funny, on the contrary you’re terrified out of your mind for his life.
“Did he put you up to this? How could you fight him, you’ve seen what he does to the other guys in the ring!”
“Well yeah, but he knows not to go that hard on me. Actually, he’s not that bad of a guy, we’ve gotten some drinks for the past two weeks and I was wrong about him.”
You gape at him. “Wrong? You saw how he cornered me that one day!”
He shrugs, not put off by the distant memory. “The guy just came back from a fight, he still had testosterone going through him. You can’t blame him for wanting to let a bit of it out, right? You should really give him a chance y’know, he talks about you all the t-“
But you can’t hear anymore, this is madness, there’s barely 10 minutes left until they’re going to call the two down for their death match. You need to find the source of this problem firsthand.
And somehow, a little voice inside your head tells you exactly where you know he is.
You round the corner to your office and there he is in all his glory, seated like a king on your chair, leaned back with his knees spread, carelessly looking through your bank statements and bet papers.
He barely looks at you as he says, “Oh there you are, I was starting to think you’d miss the show.”
You sink to your knees.
He looks up at that.
With a tight chest and burning eyes, your dry throat barely permits you to choke out, “Bak-Katsuki, please, please don’t do this. Please don’t fight him.”
He cracks his neck and leans forward, regarding you with dark vermilion eyes. He looks your position over appreciatively before speaking.
“Why not? He’s so good and great isn’t he? I’m just trying to show you how right you were, after all. I’m sure he’s got a fair chance of beating me.”
You shake your head vigorously, knowing what he’s playing at.
“No, no, you’re better, please. I was wrong about him, I shouldn’t have been friends with him, please don’t fight him Katsuki I’ll do anything-“
“-Oh you’ll do anything I say regardless of if I beat him to a bloody pulp or not. You wanna know why?”
You can barely contain a whimper as he stands and walks over right in front of you, his bulging crotch mere inches away from your face.
He suddenly grabs your hair and you cry out before he yanks your head up to meet his cold eyes.
“Because no one in here is gonna say shit to me. I run things here, toots. And if you want your little boy toy to live through today, you’re gonna watch every blow I give to him, and you’re gonna kiss the fucking knuckles I beat his face with. Got that?”
You sob as he grinds his clothed erection against your tear-streaked face, sniffling when he moans loudly and bucks into your open mouth.
A loud knock on the bare hinges stops Bakugo from pulling the front of his shorts down.
You both turn your heads and see a red-faced side-liner looking down and mumbling something about the match starting.
“‘Be there in a minute. Tell the guys to give my girl here a special front-row seat to this match, she’s gonna wanna see her man win, after all.”
The runner scampers off, leaving you both alone.
He bares his teeth down at you and you cower under his painful hold, the roots of your hair ripping from their strands.
He eventually tosses your head to the side after a few seconds of staring you down, and the second he does you clutch your sore cranium.
“I better see you down there in a minute sweet thing. You gotta get used to it anyways, since you’re gonna be getting accustomed to my rituals before and after matches.”

feysand blind date
Loving Every Second of It

Fluff//3010 words
Feyre wasn’t sure what she was expecting tonight.
Lucien had set her up on a blind date with a friend of a friend and there was no way it wasn’t going to end miserably. Maybe Feyre would say something stupid and he would think she was weird. Maybe he would decide she wasn’t pretty enough or her clothes weren’t nice or she was just boring. Maybe some other woman who was everything she would never be would catch his eye. Maybe—
“I really hope you’re not still imagining ways this will end poorly.”
Feyre frowned. “Seriously, Lu, this is a bad idea.”
Lucien elbowed her. “You said, and I quote, “I’m done being a lonely spinster who’s too busy regretting my life choices to get laid.” Therefore I, as the good friend I am, decided to get you a date. And consequently, laid. So stop being a bitch. If it doesn’t end well, at least you put yourself out there, right?”
She sighed. “If it doesn’t end well, I will have to endure the long-lasting humiliation and despair for the rest of my life. That’s not something I’m inclined to want.”
“The only reason I’m still here listening to your self-pity is because I know if I leave you’ll chicken out.”
“And because I’m your best friend?”
“Yeah, that too.”
Feyre scowled and crossed her arms. “You don’t say that very convincingly.”
Lucien just smiled and gave Feyre a peck on the cheek. “You’ll have a good time tonight. Just be yourself.”
“But what if he doesn’t like myself?”
“He will. Azriel has good taste in people, as evidenced by the fact that he’s dating me,” Lucien stated matter-of-factly.
Feyre rolled her eyes but allowed a small smile to cross her features. Azriel had only started dated Feyre’s best friend a couple weeks ago, and she’d met the man a handful of times. It was his friend, Rhys, she thought he’d said, that she would be going on a date with tonight.
“It’s time to go,” Lu told her.
Feyre blinked. “Already?”
“Yes, don’t pretend you haven’t been counting the seconds. You’re such a bullshitter.”
A mournful sigh was all she gave Lucien before heading to the door. They had agreed to meet at the restaurant, a fancy, but also homey, little place downtown.
“Wait.”
Feyre almost growled out loud. If Lucien kept distracting her, she was going to lose her nerve.
“I’m driving you to the restaurant.”
Feyre spun around. “What do you mean you’re driving me? I was about to walk out the door.”
Lucien crossed his arms. “Yes, but that still leaves you with dozens of opportunities to turn back around. I won’t risk it.”
Feyre narrowed her eyes, but reluctantly allowed him to take her. The drive was unpleasant—Feyre would never admit it to him, but Lucien had been right. Had she had the option, she would have turned around by the time they pulled up at the restaurant. Feyre’s hands were clenched into fists to keep them from shaking.
She tried to think when she had become so nervous about dates. It probably had something to do with Tamlin. Tamlin was a bastard who had ridiculed and scorned Feyre subtly enough during their relationship that Feyre had begun to think of herself as worthless, entirely unaware it was his fault. She’d dumped his sorry ass after she caught him in Feyre’s own fucking bed with Ianthe, a “friend.”
Yes, that was definitely the cause of Feyre’s anxiety. She was never excessively social or flirty, but she had at least been cool and collected, as many guys noticed. Or they used to, anyway. Now she was scared to go on a single gods-damn date.
“Are you going to get out of the car, or are we going to sit here all night?” Lucien’s dry voice cut into her thoughts.
Feyre glared at him, not deigning to give a response other than a raised finger (try and guess which one) and getting out. She closed the door and turned around, checking her phone for the time before turning it on silent. It was only a few minutes before six-thirty, so he may or may not be there already.
Taking a moment—and making sure Lucien had already driven off—Feyre smoothed out her dress apprehensively. She was wearing a plain blue dress suited for a special occasion, but still simple enough not to be too flashy. Had she misjudged what to wear? Should she have with something more stylish? Or maybe more revealing, showing off more of her legs or breasts?
And her makeup—was it too plain? Should she have chosen better earrings? Should she be wearing more jewelry? Were her flats too drab?
Feyre almost wished Lucien had stayed to make sure she made it in the restaurant. Steeling herself for the inevitable letdown that tonight would be, Feyre went inside.
Before she had a chance to look around, she nearly ran into a man waiting at the entrance.
“Oh, you’re pretty.”
The man raised an eyebrow.
Feyre blinked. “I didn’t mean to say that out loud.” She was blushing and cursing herself for her lack of a filter.
Although, who could blame her? The man was dark-skinned, violet-eyed, and muscled, with dark, tousled hair and strong cheekbones. He was wearing an insanely hot dress shirt with the sleeves—the fucking sleeves—rolled up, revealing tattooed forearms. Pretty was a bit of an understatement.
The man was grinning now. The bastard probably had a lot of women telling him he was pretty. Feyre kicked herself internally.
“Well, if it makes it better, I think you’re pretty too.”
Feyre’s face turned an even deeper shade of red. “Um, thanks. I should… I have a date… with um…” She trailed off, the man smirking all the while. And then she thought of something.
“You’re Rhys, aren’t you? I mean sure, there are plenty of other people here who could be Rhys, but I have the worst luck, and telling my date he’s pretty totally qualifies as bad luck. Fuck, I thought we’d at least make it to the table before I scared you away. Oh shit, I’m just making it worse now, aren’t I?”
Rhys, or the random guy Feyre was assuming to be Rhys, smiled. Not condescendingly or rudely in any way, just more of an amused expression. “I am Rhys. Which I think makes you Feyre?”
Feyre nodded sullenly.
“It takes more than a beautiful woman complimenting me to scare me away, don’t worry. Why don’t we sit down?”
Feyre’s face was crimson, she was sure of it. She hadn’t expected a compliment from him after that little incident. She tried to think of what Lucien would say right now. Don’t worry, it’ll be a fun story to tell your kids. Okay, not helping.
Trying to turn off her brain, admittedly without much success, Feyre nodded once more and let Rhys lead her over to a table by the window. It was mostly dark outside, so the choice of seating only allowed to give them some privacy as opposed to being in the middle of the room. Probably not a conscious choice on Rhys’ choice, but Feyre quite liked it.
He also pulled the chair out for Feyre to sit. What a gentleman.
Feyre awkwardly fumbled with the menu, trying not to stare at Rhys’ beautiful face.
“Have you been here before, Feyre?” So much for that.
She looked up. “No, I haven’t.”
“I’ve been a couple times. Of course you can get whatever you like, but I would recommend the braised pork. It was delicious.”
Feyre bit her lip. “It sounds good.”
The waiter came over just then and Rhys asked for the braised pork for himself, then Feyre said to make it two orders.
He left, and the pair was left in silence once more. “So, Rhys,” Feyre said, making an effort not to be entirely silent. “Tell me about yourself.”
He smiled. “I work as an architect. I like reading, sightseeing, and talking to interesting ladies. How about you?”
Feyre snorted. “I’m an artist. I like, well, painting I guess. And jogging. And talking to handsome men, I suppose I should say.”
Rhys full-on grinned. “Tell me about your work. Is it just paint, or other types of art?”
Feyre answered his question, and then a few more. She tried not to talk too much, not wanting to take over the conversation, but Rhys showed such a genuine interest in her passion that Feyre could help opening up. By the time the food arrived, he knew her style, her favorite colors to use, her methods of gaining inspiration, and her opinions on some classic pieces that Rhys seemed to know more than the average person about.
Then the waiter interrupted with their meal. Once everything was served and Feyre had already dug into the pork, which was even more delectable then Rhys had let on, he asked another question.
“If you don’t mind me asking, why did you decide to try out a blind date?”
Feyre finished chewing, using the time to think about how to answer his question properly. “I ended a bad relationship a few months ago, and I’ve been a bit lacking in confidence since then. I guess I’m just sick of spending my weekends alone. What about you?”
“I’ve been searching for a relationship for a while. I’m interested in the idea of spending my future with someone, so when Azriel suggested a date with you, I jumped at the chance.” Rhys seemed to reconsider his words. “Not that I would be spending my future with you, necessarily.” He paused. “I mean—”
“No, I get it,” Feyre cut in, not wanting to hear any more of this. “I’m not the type of person you want to be in a serious relationship with.” She had known all along. Rhys was charming and handsome and smart and funny and there was no reason he would want to spend his life with her of all people.
Rhys’ eyes widened. “No, not at all!” he exclaimed. “That came out wrong. I was only trying to take it back so as not to pressure you. I didn’t know how much you’d be okay with hearing me tell you how interested I was in you after saying I’m looking for a relationship.”
Feyre blinked, surprised to find that it hadn’t been a dismissal. Surprised at more than that. “Oh.”
Rhys smiled, the first signs of nervousness shining through his calm demeanor. “I like you, Feyre. We’ve only been talking for fifteen minutes, and already I like you. And I’m not getting too ahead of myself by claiming you’re the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. Not nearly this soon; hell, I just met you. But I do think you should know what I’m looking for so we can end this before it goes too far. If you’re not ready for something like that, I mean.”
Feyre was stunned. Rhys not only liked her, but enough to tell her something like that?
“I hadn’t really thought that far ahead, but I like you too,” she replied. And she meant it. Rhys was really nice, and very intriguing. She hadn’t considered what she wanted past a date. After all, she had been positive he would diss her by the end of it. But Feyre sure as hell wanted something with this man.
Rhys almost seemed surprised. “I’m not asking for commitment or anything like that. Certainly not on the first date. But maybe you can think over that later, and we can finish dinner now?”
Feyre smiled, still processing his words. “Okay.”
They dug in. There was less conversation than before, both because Feyre was too busy letting out content groans at the taste of the food and from the lingering awkwardness. But they did start talking more toward the end, Feyre snorting into her hand as she heard the end of some ridiculous story Rhys was telling her. By the time the waiter came over and let them know the restaurant was closing now, they’d returned to an animated conversation.
From everything to Rhys’ work as an architect to gossip about Azriel and Lucien to current events and old movies and bad jokes, it had crossed the discussion. Rhys was an exceptional conversationalist.
Rhys pulled out a wallet, but Feyre said, “We can split it.”
He glanced over. “I’ve got it, darling. Consider it my treat.”
Trying to suppress a shiver at the new nickname, Feyre said, “Really, I can help out.”
“Persistent, aren’t you? Maybe I’ll let you buy me coffee next time.”
Feyre knew he was teasing; there was no doubt he would refuse to let her pay next time. He seemed like the kind of guy to insist. Still, Feyre was more than satisfied with hearing that there would be a next time.
Disappointed with the fact they had to leave, but definitely pleased with how the date had gone, Feyre stood. Rhys walked Feyre out in silence, the latter surprised to find how long they’d been chatting. The restaurant was almost empty.
Feyre pulled her phone out of her purse.
“No ride, darling?” Rhys had raised an inquisitive eyebrow.
“No, my friend dropped me off. He was worried I would flee if he didn’t actually bring me here himself.”
Rhys grinned. “Would you have fled?”
“Probably,” Feyre admitted.
“Let me drive you home. No expectations,” he added hastily at Feyre’s expression. “Just so you don’t have to wait out here. It’s getting cold.”
“Alright,” she agreed, very appreciative.
She’d sent Lucien a text and he had shot back a message letting her know he would be on the way. Feyre swiftly sent another text.
nvm rhys is dropping me off
Then she followed Rhys over to his car, laughing when he opened the door for her with a bow. Feyre wished she was the one driving; it would have been easier to keep her eyes off of him if she had something to focus on.
“Am I really that pretty?” So he’d noticed.
Feyre scowled. “Shut up.”
Rhys chuckled and glanced over, then turned his eyes back to the road. “I had a really nice time tonight, Feyre.”
“Me too,” she said.
The only words passed between them after that were directions on how to find Feyre’s apartment, fairly close to the restaurant. They were a street over when Feyre pulled a scrap of a receipt out of her purse, as well as a pen—Lucien often made fun of her having everything in her purse, but it was useful—and wrote down her number. They parked and Rhys looked over.
“So you don’t have to contact me through Lucien next time,” she clarified, handing him the paper.
Rhys smiled and put the paper in his pocket.
“Thank you for the ride, Rhys.”
He frowned mockingly. “What kind of person do you think I am, darling? Didn’t you know the good guys walk their dates to the door?”
Feyre laughed and mumbled something, getting out. Rhys stepped out of the car as well. But Feyre was starting to get nervous that Rhys was expecting something from her. Tamlin always had, after all.
They reached Feyre’s door and she stopped. But before she could say goodnight, Rhys seemed to realize why she was so anxious. He was too observant for his own good.
“We don’t have to do anything you don’t want to, Feyre. I didn’t walk you here because I required anything of you.”
She flushed. “It’s not that I thought you would, exactly, I guess it just… been a while since I’ve met a nice guy.”
Rhys looked very sympathetic. “I understand. And for you, Feyre, I couldn’t care less if you wanted to drag me in your apartment and have your way with me now or wait a year to so much as kiss me. You’re worth it.”
There was no way Feyre’s face at all resembled a normal color. Or her ears. Or her neck. Gods, she was positively reeling.
“Really?”
“I had fun with you,” was all Rhys said.
Feyre barely noticed herself leaning closer. “Maybe a goodnight kiss wouldn’t be so bad.”
Rhys’ lips twitched and he assessed the sincerity of the statement. He leaned in slowly, giving Feyre every chance to back away, before planting his lips softly on hers.
Feyre melted into the kiss, obsessed with the soft feel of his mouth. It only last a few seconds, and Rhys’ touch remained featherlight. He pulled back, grinning.
“Goodnight, Feyre.”
She leaned against the wall for support. She was probably swooning. “Goodnight.”
One last smirk was all she got before he turned and walked down the hall.
Making it into her apartment, Feyre tried to process what had happened.
She’d met the man and made a fool of herself. Still, he had been nice and showed an interest in her. Then he had said he desired a serious relationship with someone, and she was a good candidate. There had been some more startled deer-like behavior on her part and some more suaveness from him. Then he had been super gentlemanly about not expecting her to sleep with him.
Basically, he was all Feyre could have wished for—and then some.
Feyre groaned loudly, throwing one of her flats at the wall. Then the other. She wasn’t sure why she was angry. Probably just because she’d been so ridiculous tonight. Or maybe it was the pent-up up hormones.
Feyre glanced at her phone, saw about a dozen messages from Lucien telling her to have fun and “be safe.” She threw her phone on the couch and grumbled about what a nosy little asshole her best friend was.
Then she slumped to the floor.
Feyre was going to spend the rest of her life mooning over Rhys and making a fool of herself, she already knew it. And she was going to love every second of it.
Oh, she was screwed.

Nostalgia sells - or does it? About BBC’s rehiring of a previous showrunner for Doctor Who as a marketing strategy
All, right, this is the one where I deal with my issues about RTD’s rehiring from the standpoint of BBC’s business strategy . Brace for passive agression, swearwords, brief history of british television and numbers. So, so many numbers.
Allright, so I already wrote a post about my problem with RTD’s (re)hire from the creative standpoint (it’s here in case you’re interested), but hey, I can bitch about it all I want, but we all know what caused the BBC to make this decision, right? You’ve heard about it for sure. The Dropping Ratings. You’ve read about it on so many posts, lots of them probably oh-so-gladly conflating this fact with their own opinion about the deteriorating quality of the show. (Don’t worry, we’ll get to that.) So Obviously the execs at the Big BBC Quarters needed to do something about it, and what better way to go than rehire a guy who’s run at Doctor Who is a warm childhood memory for so many in it’s fanbase? After all, it’s what we’re seeing nowadays: from Star Wars return to wave of 80′s nostalgia to every old blockbuster star doing a comeback, there is but a single conclusion - nostalgia sells.
Or does it?
Part One: Moving with the change; or very much refusing to.
Let’s start this off with some facts about the ratings for Doctor Who. (Well, I warned you there’s gonna be numbers, didn’t I. Stick with me, I’m going somewhere with this I promise.) In it’s beginnings, in the sixties and seventies , the series flown high, averaging a viewership from 8 up to 10 million viewers per season. Collin Baker’s series 17 brought in a record of 11.21 milion viewer asses in front of a good ol’ TV screen, real champagne opener here. But, as it happens, things were downhill from here. During the eighties, the rating started dropping steadily, reaching an all-time low of 4.15 milion couch-warming bottoms in 1989, the last season of the classic era.
Years passed, 16 of those years to be exact, and here comes our saviour RTD. Under his wings, the revived series premiered, bringing in over 10 milion viewers to the premiere episode of season 1, Rose. A viewership this high did not last for long, but still, RTD’s seasons averaged between 7 and 8 milion viewers per season, which seemed pretty respectable. But then, as the story likes to repeat itself, not unlike the bbc execs just did, along came the decline again. Ever since 2010, the ratings began steadily dropping again, from 7.95 in 2010 to 5.46 in 2017. Then DW experienced an unexpected peak in 2018 with the premiere of Jodie Whittaker’s first season, which averaged 7.96 viewing asses, but then continued the dropping trend on the next season, averaging 5.40 viewing butts.
So what went wrong?
You see, part of the reason that Doctor Who was bringing in such great viewership numbers in the 60′s and 70′s, was that, to put it simply, BBC did not have much competition. Or, to be exact, only had one competitor. ITV was literally founded in order to break BBC’s monopoly over British television. But in the 80′s, with the launch of Channel 4 and Sky, the british viewers had more and more options to choose from. So logically speaking, they no longer had to watch BBC’s programming just because there was nothing else on. There was more and more new programes to boredom-watch. And here’s something y’all need to know about the tv industry: the boredom-watchers, the casuals? That’s the most important demographic. As hard as it might be to swallow, us hardcore fans, forum dwellers and Ao3 gremlins, we’re not as big of a group as we’d like to think. Loving fans are important to the tv execs as providers of word-of-mouth advertisment, but the real numbers come from the casual, everyday viewer who will just put on the next episode cause the other one was kinda fun I guess. Or more fun than the other options, anyway.
And this is why, by the way, when someone is conflating low viewership with the show Dissapointing The Fans, they’re full of shit. I’m sorry, but we’re really not that much of a force here, definitely not enough to make such a big impact on the numbers. Another factor, that some of you probably noticed already, is that the numbers I’m quoting are from british tv only, while the online fandom is very much international, so our opinions matter even less to the british execs, I’m sorry again, hard pill to swallow I know, but true nonetheless.
But I digress. So, to sum up the previous paragraph, Doctor Who’s viewership decline in the 80′s was the effect of the changing landscape of the TV industry, with which the BBC struggled to come to terms with.
Sound familiar?
Let’s move on to the 2010′s, shall we?
2010 was is actually a good marker of a year to choose, because it marks one important thing that begun a big change in the industry. This was the year in which Netflix expanded their services overseas, from being a DVD rental company to providing VOD services. Over the next decade streaming services grew in importance, from being an add-on to your cable TV that you didn’t really want but they were throwing it in for cheap, to very much self-sustainable media services you might very well buy instead of buying the cable. And if you look at the numbers for Doctor Who viewership declining over the last 10 years, that’s precisely what’s been happening. It’s not that people don’t want to watch Doctor Who on tv, they don’t want to watch tv in general. Do you know what was the most popular channel in Britain this year? Can you guess? Fucking Netflix that’s what. It’s just slowly-yet-steadily ceasing to be the way we use home entertainment anymore. Again, not much to do with the audience approval, because for that matter, let’s see about the specific episodes that saw the spikes in viewership.
Rose, which i mentioned at the start of it, was for the longest time the unquestionable queen when it comes to viewership, at 10.81 milion. The next episode, The End of the World, pulled in 7.97 - almost 3 millions worth of lost viewer-butts in one week? Is it because it was so much worse than it’s predecessor? No, it simply did not have the smell of Newness, the Event You Must See, and as such brought forth less of the casual viewers who were simply curious about The New Thing. The next season followed the similar formula, peaking at the premiere, when the marketing was at it’s strongest, going down during the season, sometimes rising slightly for the finale, sometimes not. The most popular episodes are, of course, the specials - yet again, the vibe of The Event To Be Seen worked here, but one more thing working to their advantage is they often aired in spaces between seasons, serving as both a long-waited Crumbs of Content for the fans, and the basically stand-alones for the casuals. Do you know what the single most watched episode of revived DW is? No, it’s not Tennant’s goodbye with the role (yeah I know, I thought it had to be that as well). It was Voyage of the Damned, between seasons 3 and 4. The perfect standalone for the casual watcher. And last but not least, you know one more special feature that brought, maybe not as much, but definitely more than expected? The 1996 movie Doctor Who, with 9.08 million. Again, a perfect standalone.
But the standalones aren’t the only way to grab the viewership. The currently-highest viewing non-special episode of DW? The Woman Who Fell to Earth, Jodie Whittaker’s introduction. In 2018 no less, in the year when the streaming was the ruler supreme, this episode brought a whooping 10.96 million buts to the good ol’ TV again. Let me reiterate: this episode brought in more viewers than Rose did in 2005, while having WAY more competition and way less favorable circumstances of release that RTD’s debiut did. Not only that, it managed to bring on some numbers for the entire season as well, not as good of course as the premiere (because again, the Event vibes faded), but still brought a better average than the last six seasons did. (Again, let me reiterate: more than the last SIX seasons. More viewership than any series since 2010, since the Streaming Wars.) So clearly, this must be the way, right? Catering to this Weird New Trend, that saw directors notice there do in fact exist other actors than white men, that surely brought in some profit, even Marvel does it now, right? Out with the old, in with the new!
Part 2 The Deceitful Charm of Nostalgia
Well, it turns out the whole Doing New Things deal didn’t work out that well after all, now did it? The second season penned by Chibbnal averaged 5.40 milion, that’s 2.5 million drop from the previous one! It must mean it didn’t work, right? Well, yes and no. As much as the refreshment of the formula as simple as Let’s Put A Woman In It absolutely worked for one season, it very visibly did not hold up for longer. An Event-Episode is something that can still happen on TV, Event-Series? That’s pretty much reserved for streaming now, if you think about it, and it’s honestly kind of a miracle that Series 11 did as well as it had. Two consecutive Event-Series on network tv? Flat out impossible.
So how to make those ratings great again? How to get those butts in seats of the Good Ol’? Well, the execs of the BBC have a plan for that. They brought in a devouring beast, and it’s name is: Nostalgia.
Without a doubt, there is a number of people who feel nostalgic about RTD’s era of Doctor Who. It’s a lot of people’s fond childhood memory, or the series they started with, and judging by the numbers, there should be quite a lot of them. So the new plan, as it appears, is to get to those who maybe lost interest in the show and lure them with the promise of the thing That Is Totally Like The Thing You Used To Love, Remember? (This is why I don’t actually think that RTD will be allowed to do anything new and interesting, that’s not what they hired him for. And that’s why I think this is bad from the creative standpoint.) So there are two questions here: One, will the people be lured? And two, for how long?
Nostalgia as a marketing strategy is something that you’re probably sick of seeing already (I know I am). But it has very much been effective on many levels, especially the eighties-baiting, Stranger Things style, can bring a new IP up to relevance. But what about old IP’s that want to have a comeback?
It’s kind of dificult to find another TV show that I could compare to Doctor Who. Most series that have been running for that long are mostly soap operas, that operate on slightly different rules, and are also targeted to a different audience. So as much as the movie series is still not exactly the best comparison, when I think about a big IP, campy sci-fi, family-oriented (at least in theory) on its path back to relevance, I think about Star Wars, obviously. The Force Awakens gambled on that nostalgic feeling and won big, but the next two movies, while still financially successful, were nowhere near the astounding success of the first one. And that’s because - you guessed it - it created the Event You Must See again, The Great Comeback, but merely two years later, the comeback became old news. So what we can gain from that is that nostalgia can create an Event as well as a new trend, if not better. But the question remains: how long will that last?
That is, after all, the main difference between a movie franchise and a TV series in the traditional, network TV sense of the word: movie franchise must bring in the viewership every year or two, and TV series must bring in viewers every week for at least two months. Is RTD’s Nostalgia Vibes enough to provide for that?
I’ll say this: I’m absolutely certain that the 60th anniversary will be very popular. I still don’t think it will break any records because, as I’ve been trying to explain for this whole post, it is not 2007 anymore no matter how much the tv execs would like it to be. But ironically, the almost-certain success of the special is the very thing that could undermine the effect of bringing their precious Nostagia Boi back onboard. Remember, the first Event Episode is The Big Oof. That’s the one that gets asses to the Good Ol’, if anything ever does. After the first big event one, that’s the point when things start going down. They’re wasting their Special Event Boi for something that already would be an event, dear fucking gods, I hate your plan and I would still execute it better. Either have RTD be the Anniversary Guy and then hire someone new, use that hype and keep it going, OR have RTD come in after the anniversary, then at least you get the Event Effect for the premiere of his first return season. Fukin’ amateurs.
But even if they did that, here’s the thing: do you think that the people who departed from the show years ago actually want to watch another three to five seasons of The RTD Show? I mean, I’m sure the thought warmed some hearts, for sure. A number of people will definitely gladly watch the anniversary, probably the first few episodes of the first return to the basics, but after that? In the world when, due to streaming, they have an easy way to revisit the actual thing they’re nostalgic towards? I honestly don’t think so. And you’re not really gonna get many new people by going back, if that nostalgia factor isn’t there. And then there’s casual viewers, the backbone, as we established. And here’s the thing: lots of those people don’t even know who the current showrunner is, cause they’re not Terminally Online like we are, and the second thing? Lots of those people ARE JUST NOT WATCHING NETWORK TV, IM SORRY GARRY. They’re just. They’re just not. I don’t know how to spell it out better. Even my mum has netflix now. Your biggest base is in another castle mate, gotta get moving and gotta get moving quick, cause here’s another thing: all the nostalgia in the world will not do SHIT for you if your target, people who were kids/teens when the RTD era was airing, PROBABLY DON’T EVEN HAVE A FUCKING TV ANYMORE CAUSE THEY MOVED OUT OF THEIR PARENTS FLAT AND LOTS OF YOUNG PEOPLE JUST DON’T BOTHER. Just. I’m sorry but you’re trying to resuscitate a decade-deceased corpse there buddy. It just won’t work. The times have changed and you gotta swim or drown, and it’s just not gonna be 2005 again, no matter how hard you pretend it is. It’s not your content it’s your business model. Just push more marketing for your iplayer or whatever, focus on streaming as your primary not your secondary cause that’s just what it is now, and maybe don’t rely on the viewer-counting systems of the yesteryear to evaluate your business. Or else you’re gonna get stuck sacrificing the creative growth of your show for a marketing strategy that probably won’t even fucking WORK.
There, I got it of my chest. Feel free to reblog, and also: you somehow got to the end of this, congrats! I’ll make numbers nerds out of y’all yet.
#it's like. my sister and I were#watching a movie lately. the one with multiple will smiths and the de-aging tech#(don't recommend it it's real boring)#but when Youngened Will Smith appeared on the screen my sister got my spiting my tea laughing by innocently saying:#"oh i don't know this actor. it's nice that they're giving opportunities to the young actors. great to see a new face in the biz''#and u know what#this rehire is the same fucking vibe to me#some cunts from marketing plastering make-up to an old man's face and pretending its 2005 still#anyway#doctor who#i guess.

Types of gamers I think class 1-A would be:
Genre: Sfw headcanon. Generally this is all crack and a dash of fluff, so it’s not too bad.
Characters: Ururaka, Momo, Bakugou, Mina, Denki.
Trigger warning: mentions of sexism, homophobia, racism and general toxicity. Swearing. Mentions of rage and screaming. Generally this is all crack and a dash of fluff, so it’s not too bad.
note: this got a tad bit serious in the end, I don’t know why I divulged.
Ururaka:
She is probably one of the best gamers in the whole class. She didn't have many video games growing up because her family couldn't afford it (Considering the average game price on steam is 60$), so most of her what she plays came from an old school friend who would let her play on their PC and Xbox. This bitch got hooked. She got addicted from the beginning, and since then, she's been buying games and receiving them as gifts. She has a comprehensive taste in games, but generally, she'll fall back on games that give her adrenalin rushes. Horror games, PVP, FPS, high stakes strategy, you name it. Playing PVP with Ururaka is a Nightmare, though. Not an exaggeration; you will have nightmares. Not only is she good, but she's also terrifying. She gets slightly too into it. There will be screams, cries, roars, maniacal laughter. You will go to sleep at night with the image of her rage-filled face.
Momo:
She doesn't get the appeal. At all. The only reason that she began playing was that the others in UA would invite her to join the server, and because she's such a people pleaser, she couldn't say no. Momo doesn't have the same drive as Ururaka, so when things get too loud or too complicated, she logs off. Losing the first time in a game really depletes her ego. She enjoys a few games, like simple puzzle games or just comfort games like Animal crossing. There really isn't any stress to have in games made to make you feel cosy, and she's been doing puzzle's most of her childhood. She loves buying games for the others, though. Seeing them happy when she gifts it to them is euphoric. Overall, not her thing, but it's not for everyone.
Bakugou:
He is shit at games. He will never admit he is shit at games. And because of that, he will talk big and make his opinion known. If someone likes a game, he will find a way to downplay it. If you like animal crossing, It's "Not a real game", if you like dating sims, you're a "lonely perv", and the list continues. This is all to compensate for the fact that he has no idea what he is talking about. The dude thinks hanging out in toxic gamer sub redits make's him a natural (It doesn't). He'll drink his own sweat before he admits it, but he unironically likes dating sims; Not the super pervy ones, but the cute, romantic ones with a side of corny jokes. The dude's a lonely piece of shit who wants to hold the hand of attractive men and women and go on dates with them, and share milkshakes, and go on corny adventures. Don't judge him; he's self-conscious!
Mina:
Has the entire gaming set up! Her computer room is full of glowing pink lights, bright aesthetically pleasing speakers, the cat headphones, the whole shebang! And she rocks it like a champ. She ain't an amateur either, she'll play anything, and I mean anything. Also, definite twitch streamer and is kinda famous ngl. Especially after UA when her viewers just skyrocketed in number overnight. She's been around almost every gaming community, and she isn't a stranger to sexism, racism, homophobia etc. Did this stop her? No. In fact, she takes her joy from seeping it out of teenage boys who think they're tough shit. She isn't going to be nice about it. The kid will regret his entire life choices, and with her big following, he's probably never going to see them hear the end of it. A true connoisseur of being a bad bitch.
Denki:
He's average at games. He wins ten times out of seventeen on a good day with a game he's played before. Honestly, he loves video games. However, he's starting to pull himself back from it. Denki was definitely one of the kids who went down a very toxic pipeline at a young age, and he lived to see the results of it bite him in the ass. It kinda hit him like a train that 'yeah, maybe all the sexist jokes I made weren't justified at all. He's gotten way better since then. Still rockin' the low aesthetic set up, though. All he got is a computer in the corner of his bedroom that has grown grime over the years. (Just an add on, Denki saw that Mineta was starting to fall down the same pipeline as he had and is trying his best to curve that behaviour gently because he knows if he's too rough with him, he'll just get defensive.)

Past Due
Reader X Giran, Dabi, and Mr. Compress (NSFW)

(OOF, This little bastard of a fic has been fighting me every step of the way. It took so long because I was second guessing every single sentence I wrote. Finally, here’s the darkest shit I’ve written so far.)
(This is pre-Overhaul arc, so the bois Giran and Compress are still whole)
Words: 7.8k
Heed These Warnings: Murder, Kidnapping, Noncon/Dubcon, Giran being a dangerous dude, Knives, Forced Oral and Anal, Voyeurism, Humiliation, and the Protagonist just being a total dumbass
--------------------------------------------
For as long as you have lived, luck has been by your side like a bipolar twin attached to your hip. It was thanks to luck that you were born into a quirkless family in the trashiest of neighborhoods, your penniless parents separating and leaving you to fend for yourself. The streets had no use for you; no quirk, no charisma, no money, you were just another parasite desperately clinging onto the city’s rotten underbelly.
But it was also thanks to luck that you survived this long. The average person can remember each and every brush with death in their life clearly, but you—you’ve lost count of how many times this cruel world has tried to pick you off. So far, you have dodged every bullet, knife, and blast of quirk-based power aimed in your direction. How do you keep slipping past all of these dangerous criminals? Your reckless ass has no idea. Luck was simply a sadistic douchebag that enjoyed dangling you over the jaws of death, only to yank you back up and repeat the process like a sad little yo-yo.
As you drove to your place in a panic, you wonder if luck has ever fucked you this hard before.
———
Things had gotten somewhat organized, and by that you mean that you finally had some sort of plan instead of gravitating toward the nearest opportunity that didn’t look ready to tear you apart and throw your remains in an alley. You’ve even made an accomplice, a woman not quite as powerless as you, but an unfortunate soul with less experience in this…line of work. To make things even better, you managed to strike a deal with a prominent broker. Giran was a name known all throughout Japan’s black market, and to think that he’d see potential in a quirkless broad whose notable trait was simply not dying—it was your lucky day. He supplied you with weapons that will make surviving in this hellhole much easier, telling you to pay him within the next five days.
Your partner in crime asked if this was a good idea, that you didn’t seem capable of gathering that amount of money in the span of time you were given. There was no reason for her to worry; with the heat the two of you were packing now, you now had the ability to rob more than distracted civilians wandering the streets.
But before you could even enjoy your brand new firepower, luck decided to be a total asshole again. It was only the second day when you both were ambushed by a group of ruffians. Their quirks were pretty damn impressive, honestly. One of them levitated your gun right out of your hands before you could even fire, instantly leaving you helpless so that the other dudes could close in and beat the snot out of you.
The two of you woke up, bruised, bloodied, and stripped of Giran’s weapons. Damn, you don’t remember a deal ever going south this quickly. Must be a new record.
Alright, so your weapons were gone and you only have a fraction of the money so far. You can figure this out. Your partner was fuckin’ hysterical and you have to smack her before she gives herself a heart attack. The money was barely coming in, and before you knew it, the fifth day had arrived.
Yeah, you weren’t ready to face him yet.
Look, you weren’t exactly running away from him, you were just making sure to give yourself some space while you got your shit back together. That’s why you immediately moved to another part of town and now made sure to never drive down the same route twice. No, you weren’t gathering money for yourself and completely brushing off Giran, like your partner was suspecting. She has no idea what she’s talking about so she needs to shut up already and help you sell this jewelry that you worked so hard in stealing.
Okay, maybe Giran has been trying to call you for the past couple of days and you were officially ghosting him, but she didn’t need that knowledge to add to her stress. You probably weren’t even in any danger. The deal didn’t cost that much, and he didn’t seem like the type of guy to get truly pissed over some petty crook like you, right?
It’s been a week since the due date, and you both were still safe and sound. It was time to get your paranoid little buddy and discuss your next course of action.
When you reached her shoddy rented room, the door was already cracked open. Strange, and very careless; she should know better. You pushed it the remainder of the way and strutted inside. “Don’t leave your door open, dumbass. Anyway, I gotta—”
Your partner was sprawled out on the bed, open eyes still showing hints of the terror that she most definitely felt before her body became riddled with bullets. The smell of smoke and blood finally reached your nose when the shock of the scene before you wore off. The poor gal probably didn’t deserve such a gruesome fate.
“Oh…nevermind.” You close the door and briskly walk through the hall and out of that dangerous building.
------
This all led up to you speeding to your own run-down apartment.
‘Don’t jump to conclusions, now. This might have nothing to do with Giran. Maybe she pissed off some guys behind my back, or maybe I pissed them off and they found her before they found me. I keep forgetting just how many shit-lists probably have my name on them.’
Whatever it was, that instinctive twist in your gut was telling you that it was no longer safe around these parts. You had overstayed your welcome, anyway.
You glanced in every direction as you entered the building. At what time was your partner killed? If they’re after you too, do they already know where you live? There was no time to waste.
Checking to see that you weren't being followed, you entered your room and went straight to packing. You were basically a drifter, so you had few long-term possessions, so few that they could all fit into one bag. You packed your clothes, essential groceries, and your knickknacks that were ripe for selling. You’re loaded up and ready to go, and you don’t even need to go through the trouble of contacting an accomplice anymore. It’s those paper-thin silver linings that keep you going through this endless shitstorm of a life. With a silent goodbye to your short-lived home, you made your way to the door…
And a series of knocks freezes you in your tracks.
The sudden quickening of your heartbeat was dizzying. Shit. Shit shit shit. Whoever is on the other side can’t be friendly, but you had checked! You made sure no one was tailing you!
You backed away while your eyes darted around, deciding if you should defend yourself or find an alternate route to escape. Your only line of defense was a switchblade, so fighting was probably as bad of an idea as it usually was. You looked back to the single window in the room. ‘The fire escape.’
Several harder knocks spurred you into action. You unlocked and pulled at the old window, the worn frame almost breaking off as it opened. The damn ladder and stairs were one room across, but you can jump across the sills if you were careful enough.
There were more knocks, this time followed by a male voice. “Why the hell are we knocking? She’s not gonna answer.”
Another man responded. Shit, there’s more than one? “True. I just like to give the peaceful route a try.”
Something happened to the door that your fear-addled mind couldn’t comprehend. In the span of a second, the wooden door’s shape was warped and shrunken down into a small sphere. You didn’t spend any time to observe the two men at the entrance—you were already scrambling out of the window. The small ledge was difficult to balance on. If you could just get enough leverage for a jump…
“Oi!”
Fuck, you had to take the leap now, but before you could, a pair of hands took hold of you. In a blind panic, you drew your small blade and swung wildly at your attacker, doing your best not to lose your footing. One hand drew back and you heard a hiss of something like “little bitch”, and you thought this was your chance to break free and get away, but the hand still gripping the waist band of your pants got hot, so hot that it reached your skin and had you yelling in pain from the intense heat. With a powerful yank, you were falling back into the room and being pinned to the floor.
‘No no come on, Lady Luck. You’re always here to save my ass, right? I could use your help right fucking now.”
You thrashed and screamed, but then you saw the face of your captor and ew, that shit made you scream even louder. At least make the last face you see more appealing and less…burnt.
The burned man just looked annoyed while holding you down. “Just compress her already.”
Compress? What? Were they about to crush you? That sounds like a really shitty way to go. A gloved hand was pressed to your head, and everything began to distort at a rate too fast for your mind.
It was dark…you felt like you were floating…are you dead? Did it happen that fast? At least it was painless. There was a voice echoing somewhere, but all you saw was blackness. It sounded like it was coming from above. “God?” He’s real, after all?
God sounded very similar to the burnt asshole that attacked you. “That was easy. Why did he need us for this?”
The other voice that you still couldn’t attach a face to answered. “Giran does a lot for the League. It’s only fair that we do him the occasional favor, isn’t it? Her partner has already been taken care of.”
Well shit. Not only were you still alive, but you had been captured in some way to be delivered to him. You wanted to believe that you were in no serious danger, but no one sends two guys to break into your place and abduct you unless they had something sadistic in mind. Maybe your late partner was onto something this whole time.
The talking continued, but the sound was so faint. It’s like you were wearing a thick pair of earmuffs. This entire void, or whatever it is, was uncomfortable—the darkness seemed vast, yet it felt claustrophobic and heavy, like a powerful gravity preventing you from moving. What kind of quirk was this?
The mystery man was talking again. “Your arm is bleeding.”
“Oh right, she caught me with that little blade.” The burnt one said calmly. “It’s not that bad. My arms can’t feel much.”
“It’s not the pain I’m worried about; find something to wrap it up!” There was a sound that was difficult to discern, possibly a long sigh. “She made quite a scene at the window. I hope she didn’t bring any attention to us.”
You heard a grunt from the burnt one and could picture him shrugging. “If anyone asks, we’ll just say that she was a jumper and we stopped her.”
“…Who in the world tries to jump from only three stories?”
“A dumbass, and I’m pretty sure that’s what she is.”
The burnt guy can kiss your ass.
Their conversations were the only indication of time passing. Maybe you heard a few noises from whatever area they were currently in, such as a car passing by or a dog barking, but it was all too muffled to know for sure.
You hope you won’t be stuck in this prison for too long. The emptiness of it all was going to drive you insane. The abyss apparently sensed your distressed, shaping lights and colors all around and lifting the phantom weight off of you so quickly that you had to hold down a rush of bile in your throat.
It’s still fairly dark…a dimly lit room, no furniture, your knees on a hardwood floor, a figure sitting in front of you…
“Good morning.”
A greeting has never filled you with so much dread, uttered by a voice you haven’t heard in nearly two weeks.
The big-time broker himself was seated before you in a simple metal chair. When you met him in the bar to do business together, he had such a nonchalant aura around him, friendly yet detached. The smirk on his face seemed permanent, wearing it even now as he stared down at you, the little rat that has been hiding in the cracks of the city to avoid his sight. You didn’t feel threatened at all when you spoke in the bar; part of you knew that this man was in no way harmless, but he didn’t go out of his way to intimidate.
But now, even with the same relaxed posture and the same informal tone, his presence was sending strong chills down your spine with your brain screaming DANGER.
Giran leaned in, elbows resting on his thighs and a lit cigarette tucked between his fingers. The hanging bulbs illuminated only parts of his face, leaving the rest in a menacing shadow. “How have you been?”
You had no idea how to answer that. “F-fine?”
He gave a satisfied hum, as if he cared about your wellbeing. “That’s good to know. You’ve been hard to contact lately, so I had no idea.”
You swallowed, or at least you tried, but your throat was forgetting how to work properly. “I…” A cough escaped you. “I’ve been busy.”
His gruff chuckle unsettled you. “Of course. We’re all so busy these days, aren’t we? I’m not the type to stick my nose in others’ business, but may I ask what you’ve been so busy with? Hopefully something that involved gathering my money?” There it was.
Creating some more distance between your potential killer might help you think a little more clearly through the loud beating in your head, so you crawl backwards on shaky limbs like a drunk crab. “Y-yes! I’ve been doing my best, it’s just that I ran into a little problem an—” You bumped into something, turning your head to see a man looming over you. His attire was sharp, like that of a showman—even had a damn top hat. However, the mask he wore was rather ominous, the strange pattern resembling an abstract face. He didn’t budge when you had backed into his leg, only looking down at you as if you were a scared kitten.
In the corner of your vision you noticed the burnt one leaning back against the wall, watching you with disinterest. If it weren’t for the cold stare and the peril that he’s already put you through, you’d dare to admit that the greenish-blue hue of his eyes were kind of pretty.
“Don’t mind them,” Giran said with a lazy wave. “Those two are being kind enough to stick around in case I need them again. So, you were saying?”
You tried to recall where you were in your improvised excuse, and decided that you couldn’t risk having such a lie backfire. “I-I’m working on it. I have most of it so far. I just need a little more time.”
Giran’s face didn’t change. “And how much do you have?”
“Um…I…” What the hell do you say? Are you just digging yourself deeper? Is it possible to go any deeper? “Maybe I don’t have most, but I will soon so—”
“How much do you have?” It was firmer this time, making you shrink back. Dancing around his question wasn’t a good idea.
With a shaky breath, you answered quietly, “A hundred thousand yen.”
Giran placed the cigarette between his lips and took a long drag before blowing out a small cloud of toxic fumes. “A hundred thousand…of my three hundred thousand yen.”
Fuck, when he says it like that, maybe that is a lot of money to be missing out on.
You honestly wished he would show some sort of anger; his unwavering calmness was making you more anxious than any kind of rage.
“Can you tell me what you didn’t understand?” He asked.
“Huh? What…do you mean?” You couldn’t hold back the tremble in your voice.
“When we talked, I thought I made my measures clear. I give you the weapons, you pay me within the next five days. For every late day, I add more to what you already owe me. And if you take way too long, I’ll have to personally show you why you shouldn’t make deals where you can’t hold up your end.” He took another drag. You’re getting a feeling that the shrinking roll of tobacco is playing a big role in maintaining his leveled head. “Well, that all sounds clear to me, but there must be something in that explanation that didn’t get through to you, because you just ignored all of it.” Those final words were topped with a humorless laugh.
Just like that, every foolish decision you’ve made during the past week slams down on you. You were like a child that was confident they could escape whatever punishments were planned for them, now that they were finally caught, they just wanted to blubber endless apologies in hopes of being forgiven, and that’s exactly what you do. “Please, please just give me more time. I’m sorry. I just need another chance.”
Giran simply rests his head in one of his hands while pondering. “You know, this normally wouldn’t bother me. I consider myself an even-tempered guy. But you just had to go and run, avoiding my calls and hiding away for an entire week. If there’s anything that steams me up,” his brows furrowed, the first physical sign of anger that he’s shown. “It’s when an uncooperative client runs from me. Sorry about your friend, but I had to make sure I got my point across. Now it’s your turn.”
He reached into his violet jacket and pulled out a knife. Most of it was a large bulky handle, topped with a short but efficiently thin and curved blade. A wood carving knife.
As he rose from his chair and approached, you were suppressing the urge to just laugh at your own distress, a habit of yours that has caused more than one misunderstanding in the past.
“Compress, if you will.” Giran’s hand beckoned you upwards.
The man still behind you, apparently named Compress, locked both of your wrists at your back before pulling you up on your feet. “Hey-I-Wha-Wait a minute! We can talk! I can fix this!” You stuttered in pure desperation. Giran was poking at the tip of the knife and testing its sharpness, paying no attention to your pleas.
“It’s a shame, really. I happen to have one major weakness,” he admitted while inspecting his pricked finger. “Women. I’m always going easy on them—giving them more chances than they deserve. I can’t help it.” He grips your cheeks roughly, making you squeak. “And it really breaks my heart that I have to ruin such a pretty lady.”
“You don’t have to.” Your squished puckered lips sputter out, making you look and sound ridiculous. “Maybe I cou—"
The knife hovering so close to your face silences you. “Where should I start?” He wondered. You hold as still as possible while the sharp metal lingers dangerously close to your eye. “Maybe I should take out an eye? Maybe both?” His grip on your face prevents you from turning away, so you shut your eyes instead, accidentally releasing the tears that have been gathering in the corners. You feel his hand lower to hold your chin so that he can press the blade against the side of your face, so close to breaking skin. “Or maybe I’ll carve out your cheeks?” A thumb brushes against your lips and pushes past them. “You are quite a talker. Maybe I ought to go in there and remove that tongue.”
Your eyes remain closed, trying to focus on something else. The full-body tremors that you couldn’t stop, the press of Compress’s body against your back as he held onto your wrists, anything but the deadly blade trailing across your flesh. Every time the cruel man applied pressure, you braced yourself for the pain of cold steel cutting into you like fresh produce, but he would always pull back. It was pure torture and he hasn’t even harmed you yet.
“Hmm, you really are a cute one,” you heard him murmur as the knife trailed down your neck and across your collar. “Do I really want to carve such pretty skin?”
There was a loud groan, prompting your eyes to open and look to the burnt one who left his post at the wall. “For fuck’s sake, old man. How about I handle this so you don’t have to play mental tug-o-war with yourself?”
Giran didn’t seem fazed by the crude way he was addressed. “Oh? What did you have in mind, Dabi?”
Dabi gave an evil smirk of his own as he walked over. “I wonder how badly I can burn a person without killing them.” A scarred hand was placed on your shoulder and you squirmed at the rising heat. “Maybe we can find out together. How about it, girlie?”
You felt the other man behind you shake with a soft laugh. “So cruel, Dabi. I’m a gentleman myself. I could help, but taking a limb or two from such a beauty would be an unforgivable crime.” The implication of what he could do with his quirk made you fear for your arms that were still in his grasp.
“Great. Chivalry isn’t dead in the world of villains.” Dabi rolled his eyes. “You’re not wrong, though. She doesn’t look bad.”
There were too many hands on you. A rough aged hand caressed your throat and jaw, a gloved hand was tenderly running through your hair, and burned ones were shamelessly groping your chest and squishing your breasts. “Stop! What do you think you’re doing?”
“Shut it.” Dabi snapped, not letting up his assault. “Burning you might be a waste. Maybe I should just fuck you instead.”
Your stomach twisted in disgust at the very thought. The other two men pulled back and stilled at the suggestion. This nasty motherfucker wishes he’d get some. At least there were more reasonable voices in the room to keep the sicko away.
“Well now, that’s not a bad idea.” Giran declared with a nod of approval.
‘Ex-fucking-scuse me?’
Compress gave your shoulder a suggestive squeeze. “A vulgar way of putting it, but it’s an idea I can get behind.”
“Then it looks like we’ve all come to a new agreement.” The sleazebag exhaled smoke right into your face, stinging your already watery eyes and forcing several coughs out of you. “I hope you’re alright with that, darling.”
You shook your head fast enough to disorient yourself. “No! This is sick! Get your hands off me!”
“No good, huh? You think I should stick to the original plan?” Dabi dared you with a dazzling blue flame appearing in his palm. The memory of his scorching touch had you freezing up. “I’m just kidding, I don’t give a shit if you want this or not. This ain’t a friendly hookup.”
Compress leaned into your ear, voice sounding horribly close even with the mask protecting you from his lips. “I’m going to let you go now, and you’re going to cooperate with us, right? Surely you know how outmatched you are.”
Yes, you knew, yet there’s a little voice strongly urging you to fight and attempt an escape anyway. But you knew that will only end in pain and possibly death, and even though you were dreading what they had planned for you, the pitiful survivor in you is willing to sacrifice your dignity to stay alive. And so, you nodded.
“Very good,” you heard the smile in his praise. Your tender wrists were released so that he could take the hem of your shirt and slowly begin to pull it up. Your arms remained stiffly at your sides, the oppressive air around the three dangerous villains suffocating and leaving you light-headed.
“Cooperation, remember?” Compress reminded you.
With a hitched breath, you raised your arms, allowing him to peel the shirt off and throw it aside. Dabi wasted no time in exploring your newly revealed skin, while the gloved hands moved on to work at your bra and Giran undid your pants. You try to keep your breathing steady as you’re stripped, even when your pants fall down to your ankles. The second your bra is unclasped, you move to cover your freed breasts, only for the scarred bastard to slap your arms away.
“Quit it, I’m trying to feel you up,” He wasn’t very gentle in handling you, and his texture was so strange, wrinkled skin and the staples keeping him together scraping across your mounds. While he ventured lower, the other two men took their turn with your feminine assets.
Giran was fondling you slowly, but he seemed to be paying much more attention to your face, the face that you were having a very hard time keeping blank while Compress was massaging your other breast way too tenderly. It would help to shut your eyes once again, but that only enhances their touches, sparking goosebumps all over and threatening to pull a moan from your throat. You chose to look to the side and hide away from the broker’s dull gaze, but there was no avoiding Dabi’s hand palming your clothed sex, making you yelp. “AH! Don’t! You can’t just—”
He squeezed you down there, sending a foreign buzz through your abdomen. “What the hell did I just say?” He scolded. “I think I know how to shut you up.”
Giran made an amused hum. “Well Dabi, given you were the one who suggested this, I’ll grant you the honor of teaching her a lesson first.”
Your stomach dropped at the rough lips parting into a toothy grin. “You’re too kind.”
“Just don’t ruin her too quickly, alright?” Compress urged him before patting your back and stepping away. Giran also turned away and returned to his chair, leaning back with one leg crossing over the other.
The only one holding you now was the fiery villain; it had you sweating profusely even without the use of his quirk.
“Now, on your knees,” he ordered and pushed down onto your shoulders, forcing you to kneel. Your chest was tightening painfully when he unbuckled his belt to draw his half-hard cock. It wasn’t exactly any comfort, but it was wholly intact unlike the rest of him. “Start sucking.”
You kept your lips sealed and shook your head, only to have your hair grabbed and yanked back. Your pained cry was all he needed to shove his meat into your mouth. Your shout changed into a gag from the fleshy intrusion.
“Sweetheart,” the pet name was uttered with a mocking venom. “I’m trying to give you the benefit of a doubt and believe that you don’t have the memory of a dead goldfish, but in case you do, let me remind you that we brought you here to hurt you.” That dreaded heat was back, his hand threatening to call those blue flames and set your hair ablaze. “So which would you rather deal with: being carved and burned into a bloody mess, or having to please a couple of dicks? Doesn’t the latter sound more bearable?”
You couldn’t pull back to answer, his hold on your head tight and unyielding, so you nodded.
But for some reason, that didn’t satisfy him. “I need you say it. Come on, you can do it.”
‘No I can’t, you overcooked motherfucker! What do you want from me?’ Having no idea what to do but also not wanting to try his patience any further, you worked your voice around the thick rod and managed a choked and barely comprehensible “mmyeff.”
The sloshed word made Dabi laugh and you felt him twitch on your tongue. “Cute. That’s good enough. Now put that mouth to work so I won’t have to turn your head into a torch.”
Admitting defeat, you moved your head to take in more of his growing erection, wriggling your tongue in a poor attempt to get away from his salty taste, only to stimulate him in the process. You feel him respond with shaky breaths, but the fact that you’re servicing this terrible man doesn’t make you want to try any harder.
Dabi realizes your slow pace isn’t changing and his grumpiness quickly returns. “Oh come on, put a little more energy into it. A quirkless bitch living in the worst part of town, this can’t be the first time you’ve had to suck dick to save your life.” You look up and glare at him, which didn’t do much to intimidate when you were blowing him at the same time. He only smirked. “If you don’t pick up the pace, then I’ll have to take charge, and I don’t think you’d want that.”
You push yourself to put in more effort, taking in more of his now fully swollen cock and gagging pathetically. Despite what the singed shithead had guessed, you weren’t experienced with this. Your sex life boils down to a couple of hookups. This hectic existence with its cast of untrustworty characters wasn’t suitable for any kind of serious relationship, and sexual favors were something you tried to avoid as much as possible. Those rare nights with a partner were nothing like this, and you sure as hell would never ask for a fucking audience. A wisp of smoke nearby reminded you of Giran’s presence.
The sick broker was just sitting and watching with interest, his smirk still present. He seemed satisfied with just watching you in this humiliating state. Compress stood out of sight, but he was most likely doing the same. It made you just want to curl up and hide from these hungry eyes.
You heard a tired sigh over you as Dabi adjusted his grip and was now holding both sides of your face. There was no warning when he thrusted forward to jam himself into the back of your throat, the sting making your eyes well up.
“Sorry, but I think I’ve given you enough chances,” Dabi panted while reveling in the feel of your mouth all around him. His cock slid back and allowed you to breathe for just a second or two before plunging back in.
Breathing through your nose was the only option as he pumped in and out of your throat with little restraint. You gurgled helplessly and tried to push at his thighs to keep him from going so deep, but that only made him chuckle and fuck your mouth more roughly. He was in complete control now, so all you could do was take it as best as you could. Saliva gathered as your throat was violated, some of it oozing past your lips and running down your chin.
“Look at you, turning into a drooling mess for my cock. You like having your mouth fucked just like a pussy?” Demeaning words were spoken between his grunts, commenting on the depraved state of your face—you could only imagine how you looked at the moment with your extra lubricated mouth allowing him to move in and out more easily.
The erratic slams of his hips against your face signaled that this torture will be ending soon, as long as you could endure the assault on your windpipe that was making you dizzy. Any cry of distress or plea to slow down was reduced to wet gurgles and more spit bubbling from your mouth. With a teeth-clenched growl, Dabi presses your face flush against his pelvis, engulfed by his musky scent as cum shoots straight down your throat. Black spots were appearing in your vision with both your nose and throat blocked. ‘Can’t breathe…can’t…’
“Hang in there, just need to make sure you swallow every last drop.” He keeps your head locked in place so that you could feel every spasm as he feeds you his seed. Finally, he releases you and steps back, allowing oxygen to rush into your lungs as you coughed and wheezed.
“Whoops, maybe I went a little overboard,” Dabi joked at your shaking form that was hunched over hacking up a mixture of saliva and semen. That fucking bastard…
“You think?” A sarcastic remark sounded from an approaching presence behind you. Compress kneels beside you, placing a hand on your back as your coughing fit slowly died down. “That’s not my ideal way of punishing a lady. Wouldn’t you agree, Giran?”
You didn’t have the strength to look at said man and the amused expression that he was undoubtedly wearing. “I’m not picky myself. It was a good show,” you heard him say. You can physically feel your dignity leaving you.
“Well, I can give you a better one.” The phony gentleman grabbed and straightened you up. You noticed that he had removed his hat, his head concealed by what may be a ski mask. It was strangely symbolic—beneath all of that pizzazz was just another unforgiving criminal. “Dabi certainly did a number on you, didn’t he?” He observed, fingers tracing over your chest and the drying drool that had trailed down. You heard a “damn right” from Dabi who had returned to his spot at the wall. “Don’t worry, darling. I won’t leave you so roughed up.”
His words did nothing to alleviate the growing fear as his hand wandered down to your panties, fingers pressing against the damp cloth. “Oh my…and here I was thinking he was being too hard on you. Looks like you didn’t hate it as much as I thought.”
You shuddered at the small chorus of laughter from all three men. Dabi took the opportunity to taunt you again. “I had a feeling she was the type that loves being treated like a hole. The bitch probably would have gotten off if I went a little longer, not that she deserves to.”
“Ah, but I think she does. In fact,” Compress pulled the underwear to the side and touched your slick directly, making you gasp. “I’d say she deserves more than she can handle.”
“N…St…op…” Your voice was hoarse from the abuse your throat had gone through. His fingers began soft strokes against your glistening folds, a feeling that wasn’t unpleasant, but you held back your whimpers to avoid both the vocal strain and giving him any gratification.
The gloved digits moved skillfully across your sensitive lips, kindling a hot desire deep inside of you. No, you really didn’t want to be feeling that from him. Your own hands curl into fists when you feel him prod at your opening, just barely penetrating you and making you bite your lip in a painful effort to suppress a moan.
He looks right at you; you can only guess what face he was making. “Trying not to make any noise, are you?” His free hand removed the patterned mask, revealing chocolate eyes and a smile that wasn’t at all sweet. “I sure do love a challenge. Then again, I already know that I’ll win.”
Any retort you had prepared died on your lips when two fingers slipped into your heat, unable to hold back your whimper even with your mouth closed. “There it is,” he purred close to your face. “But I think we can do better.”
Your cunt throbbed with each brush against your walls. He couldn’t go too deep in your current position, but that didn’t deter him as he pistoned in and out, flexing his fingers every which way until he found that forbidden spot that made you wail. The white hot heat was threatening to smother you completely. You found yourself grasping his arm and weakly pushing at it, silently begging to make it stop before you burst.
‘Don’t look ahead…Giran is watching…don’t look ahead…’ The mantra repeated in your head, echoing loudly to distract you from the unstable knot in your core. The inner chant was to no avail—several hard presses against your nerves had you crumbling beneath the searing heat of your climax. With no restraint remaining, your broken whines rushed out of your convulsing body and echoed through the room. A thumb circles your clit and prolongs the all-powerful sensation.
“Try to bear it, darling.” Compress says to you, but his voice sounds so far away, drowned out by the vibrations starting from your pussy and spreading all over, engulfing you. Even after your orgasm passes, the assault on your sensitive womanhood doesn’t stop, the sensations becoming painful. You would have fallen over if Compress wasn’t holding you, his arm wrapped around you in an insultingly affectionate embrace as he continued to overstimulate you. The words falling from your lips were weak and incoherent, the occasional ‘no’ and ‘too much’ being heard.
Sobbing in the villain’s shoulders, you can make out the blurred violet figure in your foggy vision, still lounging and taking silent delight in your struggles. You just barely noticed the slight curve of his lips as Compress forced you to cum again, pitting your muscles against another wave of excruciating spasms. This time he did let you collapse, your body sprawled out on the floor as your walls continued to clench.
“Hmmph, not bad.” Dabi can be heard, and his voice alone makes your throat burn again.
Compress was still close, curiously squishing your juices between his fingers. “I could have gone for longer, but she still needs energy for the main act.”
You hear a dark laugh from Giran. “So generous of you Compress. What would I do without you gentlemen? Just do me one more favor and remove the rest of your clothes.”
“Of course,” the showman moved over to fully strip you. You stayed limp as he pulled your drenched panties down along with your pants that were still hanging at your feet, then moving on to remove your shoes. You were now completely bare, body shivering despite the warm still air of the room.
“Alright, miss. That’s enough rest. Time to get up and come over here.” Giran orders coolly. There was no urgency in his voice, but you knew you shouldn’t keep him waiting. If only your entire lower body wasn’t screaming. Compress sensed your plight and took hold of your waist, prepared to pull you up.
“No no,” Giran held up a hand while stomping out his cigarette. “She’s a big girl and can stand on her own.”
Compress simply shrugged and retreated, leaving you to force your aching arms and legs to move and lift you up.
Even after being violated, you still couldn’t resist covering your chest and mound as you slowly approached the man that you deeply regret ever getting involved with. You tried to ignore how gross your body felt—the salty fleshy taste lingering on your tongue, the wetness that continued to run down your legs, your bare feet shuffling across the old dusty floor. There was a prominent bulge in his pants, revealing just how much this was all exciting him.
“Sit down and have a ride on me.” It was said so casually that you needed a moment to comprehend.
Dabi barked impatiently. “Hey, don’t just stand there like a modest statue.”
Realizing that Giran isn’t going to take out his erection himself, you lean in to open up his pants, fighting every urge to pull your hands away as they work at the buttons and zipper, pulling down his underwear to watch his cock spring out. He didn’t seem to react, only watching your face like he has been since you’ve been tossed into this damned place. You stare at his waiting dick until you accept that you have to get closer, standing over his legs before lowering yourself down onto his lap. You have to grab the soft yet firm organ to keep it in place as it touches your opening.
He was so close, smoke-scented breath hitting your skin. There was no way to avoid his gaze at this proximity. He was free to see all of the shameful details on your tear-stained face.
It pains you to admit that Compress’s fingers made the stretch more bearable as Giran’s head pushes into your cavern that was still sensitive from the previous man’s onslaught. You had to place your hands on his shoulders to balance yourself as your hips sunk down on him, breaths shallow throughout your poor attempt to stay relaxed and not tighten up. Several inches later, you had him fully sheathed inside you.
“Good. Very good.” His voice was low and rugged, eyes closing briefly so that he can take in your surrounding heat. “Now start moving. I didn’t bring you over just to keep me warm.”
You didn’t have enough pride left to protest, so you did as instructed, slowly lifting your hips before bringing them back down, ignoring the strain put on your thighs. Giran placed a hand on your ass, the contact making your pace falter for just a second. He looked so at ease as you bounced on him that you wondered, if it was just the two of you, perhaps you could have taken this as an opportunity to attack. But in the current situation, it would only lead to certain death. The thought leaves your mind as quickly as it came.
“Three days.” The two words cut through your weary breaths and the squelch of your pussy. You give Giran a look of confusion before he specifies. “I’m giving you three more days to collect the money.”
The news surprises you enough to halt your hips, an action he doesn’t approve of.
“I didn’t say stop.” The warning in his tone had you instantly moving again. He lightened at your compliance; he sure knew how to flip his friendly mode on and off like a damn light switch. “Very good. I’m trying to show you some more mercy here. Don’t ruin it for yourself. Anyway, you need to hurry and do whatever you can to get that money. Steal, call some old friends, maybe sell your body? I don’t think you’d be half-bad at that.” He gave your rear a light smack, making your walls squeeze him in shock. “If you don’t have enough by the time we meet again, your lovely body won’t stop me from peeling your skin off a second time. Are we clear, sweetheart?”
The fear from his threat grips your chest as you keep trying to please him, moving in a way that keeps his dick away from your g-spot. “Yes,” you whimper through your pants.
Giran caught on to what you were doing. “I’m not convinced.” Both of his hands take hold of your hips and push you down, forcing stimulation on your hypersensitive bundle of nerves. A scream rips through your burning throat. “I’ll say it again: Are we clear?”
“Yes!” Your voice cracks and tears are flowing down your face once again.
“You won’t run from me again?”
“No! I swear I won’t!”
“Good girl.” He was the one setting the pace at this point, forcing you up and down in pursuit of his release. There was another agonizing orgasm growing in your abdomen, but the hands controlling your movements weren’t giving you a chance to escape the inevitable storm.
The final slam collides his throbbing cock with your cervix, and the pained pleasure has you quivering in his hold, crinkling his shirt with your white-knuckled grip as you cried out from every foul spurt into your womb. His soft groans were heated against your neck.
His pats of approval on your back are enough to push your worn figure into his chest. He chuckles and rubs you like a lover that didn’t just force you into the most disgraceful moment of your life. “I’m glad we could come to an agreement.”
Despite your limbs feeling like pure lead, you wanted to get off this man as soon as possible. “Please just let me go.”
His smile filled you with a fresh wave of dread. “Soon, darling. But I need to make sure I’ve made my point. I think the other two gentlemen would appreciate a turn.”
You heard the quick footsteps before he even finished, scarred hands grabbing and pulling you off of Giran’s softening cock. Fuck, the two had been so quiet for the past moment that you forgot about their presence.
You jolt at the feel of Dabi’s revived hard-on pressing against your back while Compress stops right in front of you, his own length bobbing freely. You flinched at the damp gloves caressing your chin and lips. “Are you ready to return the favor? Don’t worry, I won’t treat your mouth as badly as Dabi did.”
“Sadly,” The crueler man behind you added before pressing down and bending you forward, your head now leveled with Compress’s waiting dick.
“Open up for me,” he orders with a hand resting in your hair. Your jaw still ached from the last cock in your mouth; you hoped that he truly was going to at least be more gentle as you parted your lips and took him in.
Dabi rubbed up and down your spine as he watched. “Well look at you, such an obedient little bitch now.” He began to knead your ass cheeks before spreading them, your body tensing in fear as a finger toyed with your back entrance.
“I’m not a fan of sloppy seconds, guess I’ll have to take another hole.” It was the only warning he gave before his thickness was pushing forcefully into your unprepared ass. The searing pain was as intense as his quirk, your muffled shrieks vibrating against Compress and making him moan. Dabi smiled at your suffering. “Can’t complain, ‘cause this sounds a lot better. Hope I don’t do too much damage in there.”
He fucked you as hard and fast as your tight passage would allow, pushing the other villain’s dick further into your throat with each thrust.
Soon, they will switch places. And then they will take you separately. And Giran will stay seated, taking pleasure in watching you break.
Your mind eventually wanders to what will happen afterwards, if there is any possible way to right the biggest wrong you’ve ever committed…or if you simply had three days left to live.
It feels like luck is done saving you.

"And there's a problem with one of the elevators." Jiwoo says sheepishly and I close my eyes in frustration, a scowl growing on my face.
Stopping in the middle of the hall, I look up at the ceiling and pucker my lips together. "What's next? The front doors break?" I say up to the Gods, not caring if they are actually listening or not.
Jiwoo raises his eyebrows at me, "You wanna be challenging them like that?"
I lower my gaze to him and narrow my eyes, "I will do as I please."
Jiwoo holds up his hands in surrender.
Taking a deep breath, I compose myself again, "Add it to the maintenance list and I'll wrestle with it tomorrow." I instruct him.
"Will do." Jiwoo nods and we continue on our way.
"Is he still with Soon Bok?" I ask him, getting tired of hearing only the sounds of our shoes hitting the flooring.
"Yes, she should be finishing the tour and should be heading to his room." Jiwoo answers just before we hit a more open area and guests mill past us.
"What room?" I ask, ignoring most of the guests even though they offer polite smiles.
"Number 177." Jiwoo informs me. "The one with the huge book shelf wall."
I smile, already knowing the answer to my thought, "Well, let's hope he enjoyed books in his ..." I look at him to finish my sentence.
"Oh," Jiwoo quickly realizes what information I'm searching for, "6 lives."
I nod, "Pretty average. But let's hope he enjoyed books in at least some of his 6 lives."
Jiwoo shrugs, "If not, it's a nice aesthetic wall."
I pat him on the shoulder, "I'm glad you think it's good for staring at. Because I definitely spent hours picking each book so that it could be just a good photo opportunity." I finish sarcastically.
"Not everyone's a reader." Jiwoo rolls his eyes.
"They should be." I retort.
"Anyway..." Jiwoo changes the subject as we reach the edge of the lobby, "Will you be joining the us for the celebration this weekend?”
I open my mouth to give my regular 'no' answer but two males cut me off. They barrel through the front office doors, a brunette following a few steps behind a blonde one. Both seem angry and on edge.
"I saw you with my girl!" The brunette shouts.
"I don't what you saw, man, but I was never WITH your girl." The blonde one responds and flicks a certain unpleasant finger behind him, "So leave me the fuck alone."
The lobby slowly gets quiet and not a soul moves, not even me or Jiwoo. Jiwoo out of fear and me cause I kind of want to see where this leads.
The brunette jogs ahead of the blonde and forces him to stop, "Just tell me why you were with my girl and then I'll leave you the fuck alone." The brunette seethes.
"Dude." The blonde holds out his hands, "We're best friends. Why would you think I'd be with your girl? Do you really think that low of me?"
"You know, after the stunt you pulled with Henry, I wouldn't put it past you." The brunette spits.
The blonde gets right up in the brunette's face and presses finger into his chest, "None of that was my fault. I was the one who got played and yet everyone seems to believe otherwise."
"The evidence is pretty clear." The brunette grits his teeth.
Jiwoo slowly leans over as if any faster and the men's radar would latch onto him. "Shouldn't you do something?" He whispers.
I shrug and look at him, "They're only yelling right now. I don't have to do anything until the-"
The sound of someone crashing against a column cuts me off. I look over and find the brunette pushing off of the pillar, anger steaming off of him. The blonde drops into a fighting stance.
Sighing, I uncross my arms, "Now I do something." I mumble, quite annoyed that they would cause such a scene when they're dead. It's not like they could kill each other here.
I stalk closer to the brawling men who now have a fistful of each other's shirts. When I'm a few steps away, I clear my throat loudly to get their attention.
They both glance at me for a second before returning to staring at each other.
"Leave us alone, sweetheart." The blonde says lowly.
"This is none of your business." The brunette adds.
I scoff, "Actually, this is entirely my business seeing as you are acting ridiculous in my hotel."
The men land a few punches on each other but remain close.
"You want to kill each other?" I wonder but the men don't answer, "You're already dead so there's no point in trying."
Both men pause, look at me, then back at each other. And a new kind of fury is awoken in them.
"YOU GOT ME KILLED?" They both scream just as I was thinking they were going to back down.
They begin going at each other again but this time with more anger and all I can do is groan. After giving them a couple seconds, I walk towards them to pull them apart. I grab both of their arms and before I can 'magically' send them flying away from each other, the men swing the arms I'm grabbing. With their combined force aimed at my stomach, I'm sent skidding backwards on my side across the floor.
When I finally stop sliding, I jump to my feet, ready to kick both of their asses. But when I look up, Mun Hee is restraining the blonde one while the brunette is being shoved backwards by a guest.
"Hey, cool down man. Cool down." The guest says and my ears instantly recognize his voice: Wonwoo's.
"(y/n), you okay?" Jiwoo jogs over to my side, worried.
I swat at my pants, "I'm fine." I answer him without taking my eyes off of Wonwoo as he stands in front of the brunette male.
"You probably shouldn't have told them they were dead." Jiwoo states and I shoot him a glare. He frowns and nervously glances around the lobby.
"Let's try this again, shall we?" I clasp my hands behind my back and look at the brunette then the blonde with cold eyes. They both instantly realize they may have screwed up and lower their defenses.
"If you would've actually stopped to look at where you were, you would've stopped at the front desk and understood what was going on." I explain as they step closer, Wonwoo and Mun Hee not far behind. "And what is going on is that you both have died. Congrats." I give them a sarcastic smile. "And unfortunately, your souls don't have another life lined up so." I gesture to the hotel, "You have come here to greet your past lives once more before heading to the place where your soul will rest peacefully.... Hopefully." I say, mumbling the last word in disgust.
The men look at each other in a bit of shame and embarrassment.
"From my understanding," I continue, "You both died because you were fighting over some bitch-"
"She's not a bitch." Both males cut me off with the same sentence before sharing a menacing look which has Mun Hee and Wonwoo on alert for another fight.
"And you walked right into the street, where, well you know." I finish, ignoring their intrusion. My words sink in and they both soon realize that I'm being serious and am not joking, which turns them somewhat somber.
"So what do we do?" The blonde asks.
"You go get assigned a room, stay here for the duration of your lives, and then get the hell out of my hotel." I snarl. "Oh, and stay out of my sight. I'm already annoyed with you two."
"Oh, actually." Mun Hee chuckles and raises a hand, "He's supposed to go to Hotel Blue Moon." He points to the blonde male who's eyes widen.
"What is that?" The blonde asks, afraid it might be somewhere along the lines of hell. And man do I wish that is true.
I glower at the lobby wall, "It's the place where souls go before living another life." I say, ready to have a very strong word with the Gods.
"What about me?" The brunette wonders, glancing at me like he’s afraid to be left here in my hotel.
"Can I see your palm?" Mun Hee steps forward and examines the man's palm. "Hmm... You too. You're not supposed to be here."
With my annoyance nearing my tolerance levels, I turn away from the small group but before I walk away, I tell them, "Get out of my hotel."
Without waiting for them to respond, I walk away hoping for silence so I can mentally scream profanities at the Gods and Hotel Blue Moon. But instead of silence, I hear footsteps following me.
I run a hand through my hair and turn to face the idiot following me.
And by idiot, I mean the man who let me sit in his book store for hours and the man I loved.
"Hi, sorry." Wonwoo nervously rubs the back of his neck, "Uh, I was just headed to the library." He makes up an excuse.
I press my lips together then point back the way we had come, "The library is back that way." I inform him.
He turns around and I use the chance to slip down an unknown hallway, hidden by a tapestry.
"Actually, I was..." I hear Wonwoo turn back around, "Going to ask if you were okay." He finishes before sighing.
I turn my head to the side and look down at the floor, listening to his footsteps retreat back towards the lobby. Part of me feels kind of bad for ditching him like that but another part of me doesn't want to get close to him until he's the soul I knew.
Which is going to take 6 days.
~The Sixth Day~
"What's wrong with you?" I ask Mun Hee who is laying on my couch, his eyes squeezed shut in pain.
"The Wonwoo guy asked me to bring him a bunch of supplies last night." He groans and I walk to my desk to add some more files to my growing stack.
"What kind of supplies?" I question and lean back against my desk.
"Books, paper, glue, binding, and some book covers if we had them." Mun Hee says and I chuckle because of course Wonwoo would want those supplies.
He was a bookseller when I knew him but he cared for books just as much and found a lot of joy in fixing old books.
"Ugh. My shoulders are killing me." Mun Hee rolls his shoulders backwards.
"You're already dead." I remind him.
"Way to shoot a man while he's down." Mun Hee sasses.
I shrug. "Eh."
"So much love." Mun Hee mutters.
I chuckle and move to sit in my desk. But before I can, the door opens and Yong pops just her head in.
"Hey, Wonwoo's in the garden." She informs me and I nod with a smile, "And have you seen Mun Hee? He disappeared a while ago and I haven't seen him anywhere."
I point to the couch and Yong steps into my office to look, "Right there."
"Mun Hee!" Yong raises her voice a touch, "Get back to work. Goodness, I am not your mother."
Mun Hee rises to his feet, "Feels like it sometimes." He grumbles and then follows Yong out of my office.
When I step into the hall, I hear their echos of laughter floating farther away. After securely closing my office doors, I turn down the hallway and head for the elevators. I rock back and forth in my heels anxiously while the elevator slowly approaches my floor. The elevator finally arrives and opens its doors. I quickly rush inside and furiously press the lobby floor button.
"Come on." I encourage it to go faster but hey, like everything else about this hotel, it doesn't listen to me.
Eons later, the elevator reaches the lobby and releases me from its squared hold. I rush out and nearly run into Jiwoo.
"Woah, hey, where's the fire?" He wonders as I continue past him.
"Can't keep my man waiting." I throw a wave at him over my head and his only response is laughter.
About halfway down the hall, I pause to control my breathing and straighten out my dress. After I'm satisfied with the way I look, at least the way I think I look, I walk the last little bit to the garden.
Peeking in, the midnight moonlight illuminates the area with a crisp, clean look. The bare tree somehow looks less dead but only very slightly. The usually hidden bench is out in front of the tree and its subsequent chrysanthemums. And sitting on the bench, with his nose buried in a book as per usual, is Wonwoo. A simple broad striped sweater hugs his shoulders and his glasses sit prominently on his nose. With one leg bent over the other and the book in his hands, he looks like the perfect gentleman.
"Took you long enough." Wonwoo comments and turns to the next page of his book, "I nearly finished three chapters while waiting for you."
I roll my eyes and walk around the bench, "I had things to do, Mr. I-can-read-500-pages-in-5-hours."
"That's a bit exaggerated." He closes one eye in thought but then breaks out into a smile. "Come here." Wonwoo grabs my hand, pulls me down, and securely wraps me in a hug. He doesn't care that his place in the book is lost as the front cover closes shut.
I chuckle and snuggle close into him.
"I missed you." He breathes out after a bit of silence.
"I did too." I mumble into his chest. "I'm sorry for leaving."
Wonwoo shrugs and I readjust to be sitting properly. "It was what it was. I'm just glad to know that you weren't dead."
"Well, I can't exactly die." I give him a silly smile and nod towards the tree.
"I know that now." Wonwoo says a smile on his own lips. The smile that knocked me off my feet every day.
"What were you reading?" I ask, glancing at the book now in his lap.
Wonwoo picks it up and holds it out in front of us. "The one I've read a million times."
I squint my eyes in thought, "You've read a lot of books a million times, so which one is it?"
Wonwoo chuckles and knowing that I can still make him laugh with my mundaneness makes me very happy. "Sherlock Holmes." He says, setting the book aside.
"Is it still fun to read after the first time?" I wonder.
"Of course it is." Wonwoo answers as if I lost my marbles. "You get to go back and pick up on details that you missed during the first read."
"Yeah, but you have to read it all again." I give a small, shy smile.
"But you would rather spend all your time staring at me while I read." Wonwoo stretches out his arms arrogantly.
I hit his chest playfully and he retracts his arms while laughing.
"I heard you're the reason Mun Hee was in my office complaining about his back." I say following a groove in the tree with my eyes.
"Am I? Oh, is it from all the stuff I asked him for?" Wonwoo wonders then clicks his tongue, "I told him I could help if it was a lot. But he said he was fine so I just sat in my room."
"Sounds like something Mun Hee would do." I nod my head, "How did you like your room by the way?"
Wonwoo smiles contently, "I loved it. The wall of books was beautiful. You had all my favorites in there." He nudges my shoulder with his shoulder.
"Took me ages to find all of them. Some of them were quite old." I say with a slightly apologetic look.
But Wonwoo shakes his head, "Don't worry. I fixed them all."
I look at him in wonder, "You fixed all of them?" I ask.
He nods, "Yeah, most of them just needed some binding repairs and the rest weren't that hard to repair."
"So that's why you asked for the supplies and broke Mun Hee's back." I realize though I should've realized sooner.
Wonwoo laughs and my heart flutters happily at the sound. "That's why I needed the supplies."
"You didn't read all of them in that time, did you?" I double check and give him a questioning look.
He boops my nose and scrunches his face at me, "No I didn't. It took me a whole lifetime to read all those books."
"A whole lifetime." I repeat his words.
"How did you even find all those?" Wonwoo asks, playing with my hand, "I read most of those after you left."
I smile bashfully, "I kind of guessed."
'You guessed?" Now Wonwoo gives me the questioning look.
"After I left, I just kind of kept an ear open in the book world and sometimes I would come across a book that just felt like you would really enjoy. So I brought it back and started a collection in that room."
"But other guests use that room." Wonwoo pouts, feeling kind of jealous that other people would've read those books before him.
"Nah, only the right touch can get certain books off the shelf." I tell him with a knowing smile, "I made sure that no one but you or I would be able to read the special ones. To every other guest, it's just a really aesthetic wall."
"Well, look at my girl go." Wonwoo says smugly.
"So." I say, wanting to change the topic.
"So?" Wonwoo responds, turning his body slightly to face more towards me.
"I wanna know..." I pause.
"Mmhm?" He nods once, encouraging me to keep speaking.
"Did you end up married to your books or did some lucky girl come and steal your heart?" I ask with a genuine smile of curiosity.
Wonwoo chuckles but I notice the light behind his eyes dims ever so slightly. His chuckle dies down but he doesn't say anything. Instead he just looks at the tree, contemplating.
"You know I'm not mad if you did move on." I clarify, "I honestly wanted nothing more than for you to be happy and I wanted you to find it after I left. You deserved that happiness."
I know Wonwoo hears me because he chews on the inside of his cheek but he still doesn't say anything.
"What you didn't deserve was falling into the pain of me and my punishment." I say apologetically, "It happened to twelve others and I never for a moment thought any of you deserved that pain."
Wonwoo wraps an arm around me and pulls me close again, "Oh, it's not your fault. It's that damn demon's and trust me if I ever get the chance to meet it, I will get revenge for what it did to you." He presses a kiss to my temple before whispering. "I did marry."
I smile and ignore the slight pain slicing through my heart. Even though my words about wanting his happiness are true, it still stings.
"I met her like 5 or 6 years after you left." Wonwoo recalls and the memories sparkle in his eyes, "She first started coming in and reading her own books. Then she'd come in and read the books I had on the shelves. Then she started to watch me while I repaired books."
"That must've been awkward." I giggle.
"It was at first." Wonwoo agrees, "But then she did something and I knew she was supposed to be in my life."
"What'd she do?" I ask, intrigued.
"Remember the first edition book you and I repaired together?" He wonders.
I nod, "How could I forget that? I was finding glue in random places for weeks."
Wonwoo chuckles at the memory, "You're the one knocked over the glue can."
"You're the one who put it on the edge of the table." I banter back.
"Anyway." Wonwoo squeezes my arm, "I kept it in a showcase box near the back of the store. Hardly anyone asked about it and those who did only wondered if it was for sale. But she, she inspected it and then asked if I had put it together."
"And what did you tell her?" I probed.
"I told her that I had repaired with someone special. I think she could see or hear the bit of sadness in my voice cause she didn't dig deeper." Wonwoo explains, "So then I asked her what made her think that we'd done it by hand. And she," He laughs, "She said cause the back cover was crooked and on the part that poked out, she could see some writing. Somehow made out my name."
I chuckle and think back to the night we stayed up for hours trying to decide what to write there. Like it was our will that would go down in history as the most important document ever. The warm tea cup in my hands and the burning candles that painted the room in rustic comfort.
"And then that was that really. We dated for a while, got married. and then we raised three kids." Wonwoo continues his story.
"Three kids?" I inquire.
Wonwoo nods proudly, "Three. Changkyun was my oldest then came the twins, Soyou and Lisa. Changkyun protected the girls well and the girls grew up tough all thanks to him."
"Nah, I'm sure you had a large part in that too." I reassure him. "You were always tougher than I. Even in future lives." I reference the first day of his stay.
"Oh, I totally was going to ask you if you were okay that day, but you just disappeared." Wonwoo remembers and pouts that he didn't get the chance to ask then. "Part of the punishment I'm guessing."
"Actually I don't know. I never really tried so I don't know if it's against the rules or not." I admit. "But I, uh, I didn't want to find out."
Wonwoo gives me an understanding look, "Totally understand. It couldn't have been easy being stuck here for all those years."
"For the first hundred years, it was awful." I tell him, "But after that, I grew numb to the passing of time. It just kind of happened like that."
"So while you were numb to time, I was terribly sensitive to the passing of time." Wonwoo ponders the thought.
"Kids grow up too fast?" I guess.
Wonwoo looks at me with confusion cause how am I supposed to know what it's like to have kids.
"I overhear guests chatting with each other and a big part of the conversations are kids and how they just grow up so fast." I explain pointing a thumb behind us towards the hotel.
"Ah, I see." Wonwoo murmurs, "But yeah. They just kept growing and then all of a sudden, my wife and I were empty nesters and then a second later, we had grey hairs on our heads and grand babies in our arms. Completely crazy."
I giggle at his amazement, "So what did your kids end up doing?" I ask and he dives into the stories of his children and his life with them.
I sit and listen to his low voice tell the tales of the bookstore, how some years the store would be overrun with teens and then next year it would be filled with fresh out of college adults. He immerses himself in the ocean of stories from his life while I float along the with the waves and let his voice take me through the stories.
All too soon, though, the setting sun freezes the ocean and my tree's crooked branches set me back in reality.

"The setting sun always represented an end with another beginning." Wonwoo stares at the western windows where the last rays of sunlight are slowly being swallowed up by the night. "But this one is just an end."
I stare at his face, hoping to memorize all the pieces I missed before. Like he does during a second or third read of a book.
"For your worldly soul, it's an end." I say, "But for your true soul, it's the start of an eternity of peace."
"What do you think happens on the other side?" He asks, looking back at me.
I give a small shrug, "I don't know, but you'll find out today and someday I'll find out too."
"Could it be like the books?" Wonwoo wonders.
"Depends on which book." I tell him with a tender smile.
"Touché." He tilts his head. "You know," He leans closer to me, "I know I have to go, but I really don't want to." Wonwoo giggles.
I laugh before pressing a kiss to his cheek, "But we do." I remind him, trying to keep the sadness out of my voice.
Wonwoo sighs, "We do." He repeats and stands up before helping me up. "Were you always this fashionable?" He asks after looking me up and down.
I raise my eyebrows, "Uh, yes, and fashion has changed since we were together."
Wonwoo grabs my hand and swings it between us as we walk, "Well, the change looks absolutely stunning on you."
The lobby is quiet as the hotel's opening hours are just around the corner. We quickly make it to the back door and like a gentleman, Wonwoo opens the door for me.
The cool night air rushes by us and we both stand on the landing just taking in the scene.
"Remember the night by the river?" Wonwoo wonders when he starts walking towards the forest, Shin, and the car that will take him.
"The night when you said you loved me?" I ask and he nods, "The air feels the same, doesn't it?"
"Exactly the same. " Wonwoo nods, gripping my hand tighter. "Do you think the Gods are doing this on purpose?"
I look up at the dark sky that's littered with tiny little lights from thousands of miles away. "At this point, I'm certain everything that happens to me is because they," I point upwards, "Want it to happen."
"Well then, I guess I'll have to thank them for letting me happen to you." Wonwoo smiles and I feel his eyes on me.
Lowering my gaze, I meet his gaze, "But I caused you pain. Like freakishly awful pain."
Wonwoo shrugs, "Still don't regret meeting you." He says as we reach the car.
Shin has the door open and is waiting patiently.
"This is the end of my worldly journey then." Wonwoo comments, glancing at the forest and its fog.
"Now you can rest. Forever." I place my hands on his cheeks and he rests one of his on top of mine.
"You know, hearing it now, it isn't as scary as I initially thought." He says a placid smile on his lips.
I kiss him through a smile, "Says the man who would be willing to jump from the highest heights just for the thrill." I mumble against his lips.
"Answer me this, will you?" He asks and rests his forehead against mine. I nod and he asks, "If you were to have met me without a punishment, would you have stayed with me?"
I stare into his eyes and move to rest my arms on his shoulders, "Till the very end." I say with honesty rallying behind me.
"That's all I need to hear." Wonwoo says then presses another kiss to my lips. When he pulls away, his eyes are glossy but I know he won't cry. "I love you, (y/n)." He whispers.
"I love you too." I tell him, feeling my own eyes fill with tears.
Wonwoo pulls away and lowers himself into the car. After Shin shuts the door behind him, the car drives into the fog.
The tires crunch over the gravel road and Shin stops next to me.
"That was the bookseller?" He asks.
I nod, a tear slipping down my cheek.
"He was a good man. He shall be very comfortable." Shin reassures me and walks back into the hotel.
With Shin gone, I let the tears fall freely. Letting the tears fill with the sadness and pain of being left then let them fall and land wherever they please. My heart cracks into a million pieces and it takes everything within me to keep it from exploding into more pieces. It is then that a white chrysanthemum withers away in my garden.
After a while, the moon has risen high into the sky and my tears have dry though my heart hasn't stopped aching. But even now, I have a hotel to run and others to wait for. So I run my hands through my hair, detangling it, and wipe away the left over tears. Just as Wonwoo always told me, I straighten out my shoulders, hold my head level, and walk back into the hotel with purpose.
Return to the Navigation Page (Waning Crescent Hotel) to choose the next guest.

"Did you ever think today would come?" Wonwoo wonders.
"I knew it would come but I just could never definitively say when it would come." I tell him, "Like when an author has a story and a perfect plot in their mind but putting it on paper is harder than imagined and they’re not sure if the story will ever leave their mind."
“Good analogy.” Wonwoo chuckles, “Come on. Your story has left the author's mind." We stand up together and I instantly grab his hand. Like a child latching onto their favorite toy.
We walk hand in hand to the lobby where Yong, Mun Hee, Soon Bok, and Jiwoo stand solemnly.
"Hey, Mun Hee." Wonwoo calls out, "I would've helped you with the supplies. You didn't have to carry them by yourself and hurt your back."
Mun Hee vigorously shakes his head, "No, no. I didn't hurt myself, I'm just sore. I haven't worked my body like that in ages." He gives excuses.
"Well, you should start again. Who knows what other guests will request." Wonwoo advises and Mun Hee gives him a thumbs up.
"So this is it?" Mun Hee asks and looks at me with tears appearing in his eyes. "This is the day you leave us?"
I wrap him up in a hug, only a tiny bit annoyed that he's being so sappy. "Maybe I'll get punished again and be back here by the end of the year." I try to joke but Mun Hee abruptly pushes back from me.
"Don't you dare say that. You better not return here." He says angrily through his tears and I hear Wonwoo chuckle behind me.
I chuckle, "I won't come back. I promise."
Turning to Soon Bok, I thank her for her service and her amazing work. Something I never did and should've done more.
Next onto Jiwoo. I also thank him for his and his entire family's service then I unclip the bracelet that has held him to this place.
"When you leave today, you won't be able to find this place again." I inform him, "I hope that you'll be able to go and live your life happily."
Jiwoo nods, "Thank you for letting me work with you. I won't ever forget you."
I smile sadly, "You will. But thank you."
Finally I reach Yong who is sniffling and trying so very hard not cry.
"You'd think after all these years of waiting that I'd be prepared for this day." She says through sniffles.
"Thank you, Yong." I rests my hands on her shoulders, "For everything. Thank you."
With lips pursed together, she leans forward and wraps me in an unexpected hug. But I soon wrap my arms around her and squeeze her tightly.
We pull apart after a couple seconds and I wipe the few tears that have escaped from her eyes.
"Keep this hotel running beautifully." I tell her before Wonwoo grabs my hand again.
With final waves of goodbye, Wonwoo and I walk out to the foggy forest that will take us to our resting place.
At the edge of the forest, Shin stands next to an idling car, a somber look on his face.
"(y/n)." He says when we reach him, "It has been an honor working with you. I wish you both a peaceful rest." Shin bows his head and I pat his arm.
"The honor was mine." I tell him with a smile. Now the tears start to line my eyes as the realization fully sets in.
I'm free. I served my years of punishment and now I'm free to let my soul rest.
I turn back towards the hotel and look up to the top where the rooftop patio is outlined with bright string lights. Then to the mid floors where random room lights are turned on, some guests staying in while others opting to experience the hotel's many services. Then to grand base where guests would be milling around, waiting their turns to leave this world.
"(y/n)?" Wonwoo softly asks pulling my attention to where he sits just inside the car, "Are you ready?"
I take one last quick look at the hotel before turning away from it. "Yeah, I'm ready. Let's go."
I lower myself into the car and Shin securely closes the door after I am completely inside. As the car begins to drive forward, Wonwoo securely grabs my hand and I let his warmth guide me towards our final destination.
In the garden, the final chrysanthemum withers and dies so that no more stand at the base of the bare tree.

Main 3 + Aizawa with a S/O who's quirk causes them to fall asleep/pass out after using it
Im pretty sure this is gender and race neutral but 🤷🏽♀️
Bakugou
The first time its happens he’s sister S H O O K
Like damn bitch really?
Your probably training when it happens
Your quirk allows you to send out high energy electrons to break particles in solids and liquids apart at the molecular level
Yeah you know your shit
anyway the high energy electrons reside within your body and when you send them out it depletes your energy by lowering your glucose production
Yeah that makes like very little sense but it sounded smart in my head
So yall are going against robots in some training sim
You’ve been put on the same team and you guys absolutely DESTROY the sim
Metal and other things used to make a robot strewn all over
Hes panting, Hunched over with his hands still popping and a murderous look on his face.
He turns to look at you smirk curling the ends of his mouth as he lets out a “how about it you stupid fucking extra. Not bad."
You turn to look at him as well a small smile making itself known before your face goes blank and you tip backwards to fall into a heap on the ground
Or at least you would haveif he hadn’t caught you
He had snatched your wrist at the last moment as it had limply swung in the air and he pulls you into his chest and wraps his arm just under your shoulder blades
He iS fReAkING oUt
His Crush just fucking collapsed like
HOW????
Legit brushes past Allmight who was your teacher for the class and hauls ASS to recovery girl
Like
He thought you were dead
On his way out he heard Kaminari mumur a “Ms.Kesha. MS.KESHA!! omfg she fuckin dead”
He’ll get pikachu for that later though
When he learns its just a side effect of your quirk he’s less worried but still v concerned.
When you do finally start dating Expect him at your side whenever you guys are working on quirks
After Training camp your stamina increases though so he’s a little less worried
Always provides Carbohydrates needed to get your energy up
“EAT YOU BEAUTIFUL FUCKING BEING"
If you fall asleep on him or his stuff (like maybe yall were studying or smth) you best believe he’s not getting his shoulder/side of his body/bed or whatever back
He loves you so much like he really does want whats best for you
Todoroki
Oh shit
Is probably the most protective of you ngl
You better be prepared to get smothered
The first time it happens he kind of just watches with a blank yet panicked look as you collapse
Its at USJ after the teachers arrive
You had barley been holding it together in the landslide zone with Shouto since hagakure was literally nowhere to be seen
You could create force fields and send out compressed air blasts. The problem is when using your quirk getting oxygen through the force fields is hard and when you send out blasts of air 62% of it comes from your lungs.
By the time snipe shoots the first shot your vision is hazy and your having a hard time standing
Shouto notices this and stands a little closer worried you may be under the effect of a villain’s quirk.
you bend over falling onto your hands and knees (😏) as your face tents red under your darker skin
By the time you do fall into unconscious he snaps out of it and rushes over to you.
He picks you up as a pro comes over asking whats wrong.
When he learns its an effect of your quirk he’s like
DAMN

It’s basically an illusion quirk but you make people see what you want them to see
The problem is-
It takes alot of brain power for you to do that
Even though your big brain

Your quirk is called Silent Night (lmao now I'm just making shit up)
Your quirk allows you to decrease or completely eradicate sound and sight in a person/group
This can be a steady decrease or not
Anyway by doing this it creates a ringing in your ears and back in your early days it caused splitting headaches and Black out migranes
It also can cause black spots Dancing around your vision
You get really disoriented
The first time your patrols synced you guys had to take out a large drug ring
You had to block the sight and sound of about 200 men and women who were on a less than legal position
When you guys get them all cuffed with the help of a few other heroes and the police have finally arrived you all but collaspe against the wall of the building
Black spots dance in your vision as your ears ring
He slowly walks over to wear you seem to be rapidly falling into unconsciousness and puts a hand on your shoulder

Toxicity Chapter One

Jo's P.O.V
The loud piercing screams of the voices that surrounded me were enough to give me a headache for the rest of the night. I stood in the back corner while watching the two average fighters in the ring. The first man was about 5'6, and had super upper body strength, but if he were to get knocked off his feet he would be done with how weak his legs were. His opponent was the opposite, great foot work, but his arms were getting tired from holding them up to block the other man's strikes.
I'm no stranger to the ring. I am, however, new to underground fighting. I knew it was illegal, but I was intrigued to find out more. I left Texas, my home state to try and start over completely. I was tired of never getting anywhere in life with the same dead end job. It was that typical 8 to 5 where you dreaded it every single day, and even felt depressed.
I loved to write, but no one ever gave any attention to my writing, but I was hoping moving here to Las Vegas would change that. A change of scenery, and starting over, that's what I needed.
"Hey there pretty lady, I've never seen you around here before." Some guy who reeked of alcohol and cigarettes says as he walks up to me. I roll my eyes, and keep my attention on the fight. "Hey! I was talking to you!" He screams over the roar of the crowd.
"Not interested!" I yell back, and continue to watch as the man with the upper body strength continued to give blows to the man beneath him until his face was unrecognizable.
"I don't care if you're interested or not. You're a woman, and you are here to serve us men." He says, laughing. He grabs my wrist, pulling me to him when I move out of the way, and twist his arm behind his back, snapping his wrist in half, and kicking him to the ground. "You crazy bitch!"
"Is there a problem here?" One of the security guards asks as he walks up to us. The man gets up, holding his wrist.
"That bitch just broke my wrist!" He yells, and I roll my eyes at him. "She needs to be kicked out!"
"You mean here? At an illegal underground fight? Who are you going to call? The police?" I ask rhetorically, and I hear a laugh from behind me. I turn to see a man walk up with cargo pants on, no shirt, and a black leather jacket. "Let's not forget to mention that you were trying to sexually harass me, sweetheart."
"Chad, is this true?" The man in the leather jacket asks the man who's name is Chad apparently. He holds his broken wrist, and looks between the two of you.
"Women use that as an excuse for anything these days." Chad says rolling his eyes, and I take a step forward.
"I don't need an excuse to kick your ass. You better be lucky all you got was a broken wrist." I spit, and he looks like he wants to hit me. "Go on, hit me. I dare you. Better yet, why don't you meet me in that ring, and I'll show you what poor excuse YOU are of a man?"
"Jon, you just going to let her talk to me like that?" Chad asks, and Jon leans up against the wall, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Are you going to accept her challenge?" Jon asks him, and Chad looks at him like he's out of his mind.
"You want me to fight a girl?" Chad asks Jon who pushes himself off the wall, coming to stand face to face with Chad. Chad looks up at him with nervous eyes before glancing over at me again.
"No." Jon say, and Chad relaxes a bit. "But, I'm not the one who put his hands on a woman. I'm not the one who issued challenge, she did. Now, it's not nice to keep the young lady waiting. I believe she is awaiting an answer from you." Jon steps back, leaning against the wall again while grabbing a cigarette, lighting it. "Well?" Jon asks with an annoyed expression on his face.
"My wrist is broken, so no." Chad says, and I smirk at him. "Once it's healed though, I don't mind putting her in her place."
My eyebrows shoot up, and I go to step forward when Jon holds out his hand in front of me before hitting Chad across the face with his fist. "What kind of man actually accepts a challenge to hit a woman you pathetic piece of shit."
"Not a good night for you, Chad." I tease as he spits out blood, giving me a glare. Jon shakes the blood off his hand before taking another drag of his cigarette.
"Get him out of here. He's not welcome again." Jon says, and I watch as the security guard from early drags him outside. He turns to look at me, blowing out the smoke from his cigarette. "What's your name?"
"Jo." I tell him, and he nods, finishing off his cigarette. He drops it to the floor, putting it out with the heel of his boot.
"Did he hurt you at all?" Jon asks me, and I shake my head. "I'd love to chat, but my fight is up next. Stick around, and critique me?"
"Why would I critique you?" I ask him, and he smirks, looking down at me with his piercing blue eyes.
"Don't you want to learn from the best, Angel?" He asks, his face dangerously close to mine. "Or do you think you have it all figured out?"
"I never said that." I tell him, rolling my eyes. "I can break your wrist just as easy as I did his."
He laughs, stepping closer to me. "You can't break what's already broken. You can try your best, but you'll only scratch the surface."
"Who says I want to try?" I ask him, and he smirks at me again. His facial hair being hit by the light of the moon as we stand near a window in the back.
"Girls like you don't learn how to do that just because they wanted to. I'm going to figure you out, Jo." He says, his eyes staring so hard I swear he's looking at my soul. "Now, if you'll excuse me. I have to knock out my opponent in less than three minutes."
*** It had been about a week since I had come across the illegal fighting gym, and if I had to be honest, I was intrigued.
Although my fighting days were over, I wouldn't mind just stopping in every week just to watch.
"Jo?" I hear my name and snap my head up. It was the security guard from the other night. "We met the other night. You broke that guy's wrist?"
"Right. I never actually got your name." I tell him, and he sits down across from me.
"Seth." He says, and shakes my hand. "You've been making quite the buzz."
"I have?" I question, and Seth nods.
"Oh yeah, everyone is talking about the badass girl who broke a guy's wrist her first night in Vegas."
"Not much goes on around here, does it?" I ask, laughing lightly.
"You could say that." He says, and stands up. "There's another fight tomorrow night if you're interested. Boss said he wanted you there, and, well, you don't want to get on his bad side."
"Who's this boss? Will I meet him?" I ask him, and he gives me a look. "What?"
"Jon is the boss. You've already met him." He says before waving, and walking out of the Cafe.
*** "Name please?" The body guard asks me.
"Jo." I tell him, and he scans his list with his pen.
"Sorry, you're not on the list." He says, and I scoff at him. "Sorry ma'am."
"The boss himself requested that I be here." I tell him, raising an eyebrow when I catch Seth. "Seth!" He waves at me, and walks over. "Will you please tell your bouncer here that I was requested by Jon."
"Oh yeah, she's with us, Roman." Seth tells him, and he gives me questioning look before allowing me though. "I'll make sure to get your name on the list next time."
"Good." I tell him, and he drags me all the way to a pit area above the ring. "What am I doing up here?"
"Jon's request. He wants to talk to you after the show. There's snacks and drinks in case you get hungry." Seth says, taking a water bottle.
"Can I ask you a question?" I ask him, and he nods. "If Jon is the boss, then why does he still fight?"
"You can take the man out of the fight, but you can't take the fight out of the man." He says before leaving me alone.
I hear the crowd scream and notice that Jon was now making his way down the ring. He had his signature black cargo pants with his black leather jacket, except now, it had the letters M.O.X down the middle. I'm guessing that's his nickname?
I watch his technique, and he definitely got a thrill out of doing this. Every punch had him smiling, even when he was hit and his mouth began to bleed. That didn't stop him though. In fact, it made him go harder at the fight.
He looks up towards me momentarily, a smirk on his face, blood trickling down his chin, and neck. I felt a shiver run up my spine, and he turns around to knock out his opponent. Again he did it in under three minutes.
He knows he's good. You can see it all over his face. I wonder how much one gets from one of these matches?
I continue to watch the people downstairs before the door creaks open. "I'm glad you came." Jon says, walking further into the room.
"I was told you requested me, and to not make the boss man unhappy." I tell him, and I noticed he had been cleaned up somewhat. "Why do you still fight when you own the place?"
"Long story. Did you enjoy the fight?" He asks, and I nod my head. "You fight, don't you? There's no way a woman like yourself comes into this establishment who hasn't been around something like this. Because the other type of woman that comes in here are to fuck the fighters, and you don't strike me as that type."
"Why does it matter what type of woman I am?" I ask him, and he walks closer to me.
"Because, I can see it in your eyes. You may have stopped fighting, but I can see the need for it. I'm not sure what has brought you here, but if you would like to get back into the ring you love, call me." He says, handing me his card. "Even if it's just to work out some stress, my gym is open. Oh, and you've been added to the list. Roman is very cautious when it comes to the fighting business."
"Thanks." I tell him before gathering my stuff. "See you around, Jon."
He nods at me before pulling out his cigarette, lighting it. I watch him take a drag, and blow it out. "You want some?"
"I shouldn't." I tell him, and he pushes off the wall, walking over to me.
"Why?" He asks, and I smell the smoke on his breath.
"That's a conversation for another time." I tell him, and pull myself away from him to leave the building.
*** There was something off about Jon. I couldn't put my finger on it. He was different to say the least. Every time I tried to write something, it would be about him, and I have no idea why.
Maybe it was the way his blue eyes shines when the blood started to fall down his body, combined with the sweat.
Or maybe it was the cocky walk he did on the way to the ring. Or the way he held the cigarette up to his lips.
You'd be blind not to find the man attractive, but the last time I fell for the 'bad boy' it didn't end well. Hence why I moved fifteen hours away.
I pull out his card, and look down at the number before adding it to my phone. I did miss fighting, and I definitely needed the money.
What could be the harm?
*** I pull up to the gym, and lock my car before walking inside. It was bare inside. Just the ring and the workout equipment were all that was shown. It was weird not to see the people here.
"There's my little fighter." Jon says as he comes out of his office. "I'm glad you called."
"I guess you can take the girl out of the fight, but you can't take the fight out of the girl." I tell him, and he smirks at me.
"So, tell me, how long has it been?" He asks me, and I'm caught off guard.
"I'm sorry?" I question him, hoping he isn't asking what I think he's asking. Would hate to beat up my boss on my first day.
"Since you've fought. How long has it been?" He asks, and now I feel dumb thinking he was asking about sex. Wow, I need a cold shower.
"I was forced to stop month's ago." I tell him, and he looks over at me. "Long story."
"You're not hurt, or sick are you?" He asks, concern written all over his face. "Is that why you were forced?"
"No. I wish that was the reason though." I tell him, hoping that he would change the subject.
"What did you specialize in?" He asks me, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it.
"I don't really know. I kind of did everything, but I was always quick on my feet, and knew how to dodge really well."
"Something tells me you're being modest." Jon says, laughing lightly. "You broke one of my customers wrists your first night here."
"That was different, he was trying to cop a feel." I say, rolling my eyes.
"Remind me never to never attempt that. Unless you ask of course." He says with a wink causing me to laugh lightly.
"Okay bossman, what am I doing first?" I ask him, and he starts walking to his office.
"You coming or what?" He yells over his shoulder, and I follow him to his office. As I look around, I see no pictures if a wife or family.
"No family pictures?" I ask him, and he shakes his head, looking down at the table.
"Don't have one. This is all I have." He says, and my heart sinks. "So, do you happen to have any tape or recordings of your fights?"
"No. No one really knew I did it." I tell him, and he nods.
"Do you have a job?" He asks me, and I shake my head. "Good. I want you to be up here every day for the next two weeks, training. Then, I'll give you an exhibition match. If you impress me, I'll give you a job."
"Wait really?" I ask him, and he nods. "Paid to fight?"
"If that's something you'd like, yes." He says, and I nod. This way I could afford somewhere other then a motel and crappy food, and focus on my writing. "Great, come by tomorrow. Be ready to fight."
"I always am." I tell him before exiting his office.
*** I dressed in black leggings, and a pink crop top with my back jacket thrown over. I pull my hair up into a bun and make my way over to the gym.
Jon wasn't there at first, and so I just began working out until I heard the door open, and close. I was in the middle of a pull up, and so I dropped my body down, and wiped the sweat that had already began to pool on my body.
"There she is, my little fighter girl. You ready to train?" He asks, and I nod.
"I'm training with you?" I ask him, and he nods.
"You want the best don't you?" He asks me, and I roll my eyes at him. "Come on, get in the ring."
I look around at the familiar structure. It's been a while since I've been in one of these. "Jo?" I hear Jon call my name.
"Sorry, what's up?" I ask him, and he walks up to me holding wrist tape. He takes each of my arms, and wraps it up before letting me loose. "Will I be fighting men or women?"
"Mainly women, every now and then a man may show up." He says, and I nod. "Now, hit me."
I throw a punch but he quickly grabs it, and reversed it, locking it behind my back. "Reflexes are my strong suit." He whispers in my ear before letting me go.
He goes to kick me, but I quickly move out of the way. We dodge each other until he literally has me pinned up against the ropes. "Dammit girl." He groans, and pushes off me. "I may have met my match with you."
"Don't feed my ego, Jon." I taunt, and he smirks at me. "Come on, let's keep this thing going."
*** "Jo, can I see you in my office, please?" Jon asks me, and I step away from the punching bag, looking around at the other fighters training before walking over to him.
"Yes, bossman?" I ask, and he beckons me over to a room next to his office. "What's this?"
"This is where you will get ready for your fight tomorrow night, and I got you something special." He says, before walking further into the room, and pulls out an outfit.
It was purple, and lime green. My two favorite colors. I can't believe he remembered that I told him. Then he pulls out a robe that says "little fighter girl" his nickname for me.
"What did I do to deserve this?" I ask him, and he hangs it up on the hook near the door.
"I see a lot of myself in you. You're a fighter, angel. Tomorrow night, show everyone else that I'm right."
"Thank you, Jon. You have no idea what those words mean to me." I tell him with tears in my eyes. "Sorry, I didn't mean to get all emotional."
"Come here." He tells me, and he pulls me in for a hug. "I'm betting on you, my little fighter girl."
"I won't let you down." I tell him, pulling away from him.
"I know you won't. Now, go get some rest. Need you ready for tomorrow." He says, and I nod before leaving the room.
*** "You're telling me you do this for fun?!" He yells in my face. "But yet you cry when I lay a hand on you. I told you it was an accident! I love you, why can't that be enough? Instead you parade around those filthy men in almost no clothing for money!"
"This isn't about you, Dylan! Why can't you fucking accept that?!"
He grabs me by my throat, and slams me up against the wall. "You are nothing but a pathetic little bitch. You are nothing with out me!" He let's me go, and I try to gasp for air. "Your mother was right, you don't deserve love. You deserve nothing."
I jolt awake and the memory, and see that it was just half past nine. Fuck. Why did I have to have that nightmare the night before my fight?
My chest begins to rise, and fall quickly. No fuck! Not now, please. Just breathe.
"Baby, I'm so sorry. You know I love you right? I just lost control." Dylan tells me, and wraps his arm around me. "Why don't we go out for dinner? Somewhere nice?"
"I'm tired." I tell him, and he looks at me with tears in his eyes. "Of all of it. I can't keep doing this."
"Baby, I'm sorry. Believe me!" He starts yelling. "I'm apologizing, and you don't want to listen to me!"
He takes my head, and slams it against the table. Pounding is all I feel, and my hearing was impaired. "Fuck, baby! Look what you made me do!"
"I thought I told you to get rest?" Jon's voice pulls me from another memory.
"Sorry, boss." I whisper and make my way to the room next to his office. I sit down, and he sits down across from me.
"What's wrong?" He asks me, and I shake my head. "Jo. Tell me."
"Just had a few nightmares last night, no big deal." I tell him, and he moves to kneel in front of me.
"Do you need to reschedule? You don't look good, angel." He whispers.
"No. Fighting is the only thing I do right. I told you I wasn't going to let you down, and I keep my promises." I tell him, and he looks up at me. "I'll be fine."
"Jo." He says warily, and I wave my hand at him.
"Go. I need to get ready." I tell him, and he sighs before picking himself up off the floor.
"Good luck, fighter girl." He says, and it actually puts a smile on my face.
As I make my way out, I see Jon from in the pit looking down at me. He sends me a wink, and I await my opponent.
Imagine Dylan's face. Give him what he always did to you. So, that's exactly what I did. I delivered many uppercuts, and straight punches, and she was out cold in under a minute.
I look up at Jon who smirks at me. My hand being raised, and men looking like they want to have me for dinner.
I make my way to the back, and lean against the door, breathing in. Man that felt good.
"Can I come in, angel?" Jon's voice is on the other side of the door. I open the door, and he pulls me on for a hug. "Forty five fucking seconds. You're so bad ass!"
"Watch out, I don't think there's room for both our egos in here." I joke, and pull away from him.
"Well, I think it's safe to say that you have a job now." He says, and I breath out a sigh of relief.
"Thank god. Maybe I can get an actual apartment and decent food now." I say, laughing.
"Well, tonight dinner is on me. Have to take out my newest fighter! So, shower and get dressed. I'll be waiting for you fighter girl."
*** I was having about three fights a week starting out, and every single time, Jon was there to support me.
I was beginning to get the nickname "minute girl" by the fans, and I loved it.
"Hey minute girl, care for a drink?" I hear a voice ask, and I turn around to see them. My face pales, and I drop my drink. "Something wrong?"
"What are you doing here?" I ask him, and he gives me that devilish smile. The one I once fell in love with. "How did you find me?"
"You're popular, minute girl!" He yells, and I feel my skin crawl. I look over to Seth, and he sees my reaction.
"Stay away from me." I tell him, and he reaches up to touch my face. I flinch, and slap his hand away. "Don't touch me."
"Is there a problem here?" Jon's voice comes from behind me.
"No. Dylan was just leaving." I say, and Dylan balls his hands into fists.
"What a shame, it was just getting interesting." Dylan says, and steps closer to me. "I know you miss me, baby doll."
I shove his chest to see him get furious enough, but he wouldn't hit me in public. "Can't calm your fighter?" Dylan asks Jon.
"Get the fuck out, and never come back. I'll know if you do." Jon says, and Seth takes him outside. I let out a breath, and grab the bar for support. "Hey, you alright?"
"Yeah, can you take me home please?" I ask him, and he nods.
"Of course. Come on." He tells me, and I follow him to his car. "I'll come back for your car in the morning, alright?"
I nod, and pull my knees up to my chest in his passenger seat. "I'm sorry." I sniffle, and lift my head up to look at him. "I don't know how he found me."
"Who is he?" Jon carefully asks, and turns down the music volume.
"My ex. He's the reason I moved all the way out here." I whisper, and Jon looks at me with pity on his face.
"Bad break up?" He asks me, and I look down at his cigarettes. "Need one?"
"I shouldn't." I tell him, but take it anyways. He lights it for me, and I inhale the smoke. "He used to beat me. Dylan."
I watch as Jon's hands tighten around the wheel. "He took advantage of me, too. That's why I broke that guy's wrist. I don't do well with strangers touching me, especially when I tell them no."
"Say the word and I can have him gone with no questions asked." Jon says, his demeanor rigid. "I mean it."
"What? Like kill him?" I ask, and he just stares at me. "You'd kill him for the things he's done to me?"
"I've killed people for a lot worse, angel." He says, and my body goes cold. He's killed people? "Only the bad people though, so, you're safe."
"You just admitted that you've killed people." I tell him, and he shrugs his shoulders. "You're not worried I'll run to the police?"
"Nope." He says calmly. "And you want to know why?" He says when we pull up to my new apartment.
"Because I know you've done it too."

Fall Like Rain On Sunday, Pt. 9
“Asshole cop.” Jason grumbled as they walked back towards the truck, and Steph giggled wildly, her lipstick only just cleaned up from the wipes she kept in her bag, eyes dancing as they made their way through the crowded Saturday night boardwalk, said asshole cop glaring behind them. Sure, they maybe got a little too into making out on the bench, but Jason had been so thrilled by her reference, and Steph was just…absolutely in love with Jason. So. Y’know. One thing led to another and Jason’s hand had crept up her skirt while she’d straddled his lap…
And then Officer O’Grady had blown his whistle. Right in their ears.
“I agree…sorry he got your bad side…” Jason shot her a grateful smile, and she kissed his cheek softly, all sympathy. The explosion when he was fifteen had ruptured his eardrum, and high-pitched sounds bothered the hell out of him on his left side still, which was why his helmet had specialized protective ear guards, and he wore sound-reducing plugs with his domino. It…was perhaps one of the few things that Bruce and Jason had bonded over; Bruce used similar ones for his own cowl, and had adapted Jason’s with regard to the minor hearing loss.
“Eh…At least it didn’t make my tinnitus start up. All he had to do was cough or somethin’…” Steph agreed, and rubbed his back soothingly, smiling as Jason squeezed her shoulder and kissed her temple. As much as she’d liked the idea of the Ferris Wheel…O’Grady was following, she could sense his eyes on her ass, and evidently, so could Jason; he raised his free arm to flip the cop off and hugged her a little closer, arm sliding down to wrap around her waist. Not to grope her, not that Steph would have minded…but she smiled, snuggling in close anyway. It was possessive without making her the possession.
Makes Dean look like the pervert he was. Creep. And Jason and I are what…three years apart? She made a few mental calculations and nodded to herself, satisfied; they were right at three years and two months apart, and while she and Tim were the same age…she had more in common with Jay. More shared life experience, too…
“Babe? You okay there? You look like you’re a million miles away…” Jason murmured, pausing at the entrance to the carpark, and Steph shook herself, smiling up at him.
“Yeah…sorry, was just…thinking about things.”
“…Good things? Bad things?”
“A little bad, then a little good. I promise, I’m okay…just…maybe more tired than I realized.” She winced at that, but Jason just chuckled, warm and sweet.
“I don’t doubt it, we were both up early. As fun as the bench was…how about we head back and get some rest, hmm?”
“Yes please…Um…do…you mind if I ask you to take me home?” His eyes softened at that, dark green with the night, and he kissed her softly, guiding her back over the gravel with care.
“Not at all, sweetheart; besides, I don’t put out on the first date.” Steph burst into giggles at that, and Jason snickered, helping her back up into the truck. He hopped over the hood, every inch the reckless Bat-boy, which made Steph break into more giggles. Joining her in the cab, he swooped in for a kiss that Steph gladly gave, and carefully got them out of the parking space, bitching a little about idiot tourists and shitty drivers as he made his way to the road again. “Goddamn fuckin’ cop could be over here clearing this mess out…”
“At least Penguin’s men have it well-lit again; the city didn’t do shit about that.” Steph growled out, suddenly feeling far more charitable to Cobblepot and his crew. Whatever else Oswald might have once been, fatherhood seemed to have mellowed him immensely, and his mostly-legit wealth was going into things like lighting the Mile, same with Bruce; hell, Bruce had even sent baby gifts, both has Wayne and Batman, since Cobblepot had largely dropped out of the Rogues’ with the birth of his daughter.
“Yeah, I think B thanked him for it the other day, Barb was shocked on the comms because they actually had a polite conversation; he asked about Robin, B asked about Tracey and little Eugenie.”
“Awwwww…I’ll get a purple penguin for her when I go out on patrol tomorrow.” Jason chuckled at that, and Steph relaxed into his shoulder, fine with taking the back roads home to her apartment. Here too, the little improvements had made things better for everyone, not just the wealthy Gothamites; lights brightened the once gloomy alleys, and people, feeling safer, had begun cleaning them up. Dumpsters had been moved to the backs of the buildings, and play areas built, full of beat up toys. Old sawhorses and a few semi-straight boards sporting carefully repaired flowerpots full of cheap herbs and little flowers leaned against the brownstones, painted bright with cheap acrylic and leftover housepaint.
Graffiti artists, once the bane of the neighborhoods, had been given purpose and permission to express themselves via the Wayne Urban Art grants, and now murals of every color covered the once ugly cement walls. Meanwhile the old abandoned lots, once ignored by the city, had been bought up by Wayne Industries and given to the neighborhoods as small leisure areas, with young saplings and soft grass and little free gardens, tended carefully by gardeners hired by Bruce himself.
Crime still ran rampant, of course; hell, that’s why they still had patrols.
But more and more, that crime was white-collar or supervillain; the average Joe was happy to have a good job again, and a place to call home that wasn’t covered in trash and grime. Petty criminals with a family to feed or a dangerous addiction had more avenues for help now, with flyers on every corner, and kind counselors available night and day. And the only requirement was only “if you know someone else who needs us, please bring them here.” Steph approved of that, as did Jason, and Bruce had only smiled and said “I thought of you two when we set that up.” Highest compliment he’s ever given us, I think…it…it really has made a difference. Just in my life alone…
Crystal Brown had been among the first he’d welcomed to the program, and Steph had broken down crying on Bruce’s shoulder the day her mom had come home clean. Really clean now; whatever else might have happened between them, Steph was just glad to have her mom back…and Jason had had much the same reaction, so Alfred had told her, when Roy’d gone through it too. Roy was Jay’s best friend in the whole world…she smiled a little. I’d almost be jealous, but…Cass is my best friend. And if Cass swung that way, I’d have dated her in a heartbeat, I think…I’m not mad that he and Roy were a pair. I’m just glad they’re still friends.
“Gotta say, B’s really made home feel a lot less gentrified, and more…”
“Alive.” She murmured, and Jason nodded, his voice a little tight as he pulled into her apartment’s lot.
“…I was worried, when he started this, that it’d be the Bowery all over again.” He murmured, and she squeezed his arm, taking a deep breath.
“Me too, if we’re being honest here. But…it’s not. It’s not. It’s…what we would have wanted. Hell, he even retrofitted the Starlight with green tech so that the Narrows’ best babysitter didn’t have to close down.” He laughed, soft and sweet, and kissed her forehead.
“Tell me about it, I begged him to bankroll it when I was a kid because…well, it’s the last original roller rink on the East Coast. I couldn’t bear to see it torn down. I think he started doing it after I died…kinda sweet, to be honest.”
“That’s what I would have done…Ooh. We should go skating next time.” Steph mused, and Jason’s answer was in a hot, sweet kiss, his eyes dancing in the streetlights.
“It’s a date. C’mon, I’ll walk you to your door?” He suggested, offering his hand, and Steph let him pull her out, heart as light as a feather. He was easy to lean into, not handsy in the slightest, big hands rubbing up and down her back, and already, Steph was boneless against his chest, drowsing as they rode the elevator back up. Their hands clasped, Steph swung them a little as they pulled apart, yawning widely as the elevator stopped and she could lead him back down to her apartment door, pulling out her key.
“Mmn…thank you. I love you…and I hope this is still okay?” She murmured, hopeful and more than a little nervous. Jason kissed her again, then once more, and bussed her nose with his own, the smile on his lips as clear a confirmation as the words…but she liked hearing him anyway.
“I love you too, babe, and this is so okay. Get some rest, alrighty? Tim took our patrol tonight, B sent me an apology text earlier, so we’re good till tomorrow.”
“Good. Bastard should know better than to get between me and waffles.” The roguish grin on Jason’s face made her grin back, and he stroked her hair back over her ear again, something she never let Dean or Tim do, because it felt…weird with them. It felt right with Jay.
“Goddamn right, Blondie. Sleep tight, babe, can I bring you waffles in the morning, or are you waffled out?”
“Jay, if you bring me waffles in the morning, I’ll put out, alright? Waffles are life.” She retorted, and he fell back with a snicker, shaking his head as he kissed her.
“Well hell, if it’s really that easy, babe…” She swatted his arm, still grinning, and he kissed her once more, leaning into her doorway in a gesture that should have felt intimidating…but like before, well…it was Jay. It felt right. Steph kissed him back, sighing softly, and he pulled back to kiss her in the center of her forehead. “Head to bed, babe, I’m not far off. If you need anything, call me, okay?”
“Mmn, sounds good…are you really gonna bring me waffles?” She replied, hopeful, and he grinned again, his smile as addictive as his kisses.
“Goddamn right I will, babe. What time works?”
“Probably eight, at least? I need to get up early, do housework, do homework…” She made a face, and he made a face with her.
“Ugh. Well, I can help with the former, and as for the latter, I can be a quiet boyfriend and clean my guns?”
“Deal…See you then?” Steph wanted to crash, she really did, she was yawning so much now…but she didn’t want him to go…
“See you then. Goodnight, Stephie.” He murmured, kissing her once more, then closed the door for her. She leaned against it, listening to him slip down the stairs, and smiled, stepping out of her sandals with a groan of relief (they were cute, but she was tired enough for them to start hurting finally), and made quick work of taking off the rest of her make up, hanging up her dress, changing into comfy undies and a huge tee shirt. Taking down her hair, she glanced over at her phone…and grinned to see his number light up on the screen. She swiped to answer, and leaned back against the pillows.
“Miss me already, handsome?” He chuckled, warm and low, and it didn’t matter that she’d been hearing it all night; she could hear it a million times, and never get tired of it.
“You know it, baby. Figured you’d probably have trouble getting to sleep, as tired as you were, so…I thought maybe I could read to you?” He sounded so hopeful over the line, and Steph’s breath hitched in her chest. Oh…
“…I’d really, really like that. What did you have in mind?” She could see his grin as she closed her eyes, and heard the soft sound of pages turning, the faintest creak of an old book opening.
“Well, I always loved Pride and Prejudice…”

Coffee with Cream
Chapter 1: Our Story Begins in a Diner
full masterlist
series masterlist
Pairings: Frank Castle x reader x Mad Sweeney
Word count: 2,693
Warnings: sexism, mentions of alcohol, men being men.
Summary: Two men, one diner and little old you. Working at a diner had never been your dream job but, fate had a funny way of bringing two contrasted men into your life.
a/n: hey guys! as you all know my obsession over frank castle and pablo schreiber had been exploding these past couple of months. and so, me and @nellblazer decided to write a good old threesome fic involving these two bulky men. hope you like it. enjoy!
Morning shift:
Another day, another chaos. The buzz of the diner was in full swing as you raced to another table filled with new patrons after the previous ones just got up and left, leaving a generous tip for you as you wiped the surface clean and picked up the dirty dishes.
It was a daily occurrence for you to deal with the bustle. Mornings are always the most hectic. You had to pace back and forth from one table to another, wrote down their orders and carefully carried their meals and beverages to the starved consumers.
Another ring above the door echoed in the clamorous room. You had grown so acclimatized to the sound, that you barely noticed it even chimed. It was basically the soundtrack of the early hours at the diner. So it didn’t interrupt your brief conversation with one of the patrons who had just ordered a black coffee with pancakes as you penned them down on your notepad.
It was around 10 AM, entering brunch hours when he walked in.
You turned around to give the order to the cook but was shortly hindered by a dark-haired man with perfectly neat stubble the lower part of his face. You weren’t paying attention to your surroundings due to the rush, so your body crashed with a taller dark figure that was walking in your direction.
“Oh, sorry, sir.” You were stunned. You couldn’t help but quickly notice the mysterious appeal of this man as his deep brown eyes looked into yours. For a second, it felt like the noise in the room suddenly faded into the background. You weren’t one in believing “love at first sight” but you definitely knew an attractive man when you saw one. And you were allured.
He quickly caught you by the shoulders and you loved the temporary moment that you had with him. His touch didn’t last long but you sure as hell wished it had.
“My mistake.” He shrugged it away like it was nothing. Then he walked away to the last booth in the corner and sat near the window. For a second there, you almost forgot what you were currently in the middle of, until you heard your name being called by one of the cooks.
“I’m coming.” You glanced at the lonesome man whom your fellow waitress co-worker was taking orders from once more before you quickly took another cooked order from the counter. You heard the indistinct murmur of the words ‘pancake’ and ‘a cup of espresso coffee’ being spoken by the man. Funny how despite his protruded emanation, he still made a common order.
But with him only a few feet away from where you were standing, things were just getting interesting.
-
An hour passed by and you were still pacing back and forth from pantry to one table to another. Until the commotion began to dwindle down, and you could just sit back behind the counter and wait for the remaining ones to get up and leave.
The blonde-haired man who had been indecorously eyeing you up and down after you first interacted with him to take his order earlier got up from table two and you were a tad relieved that he was finally about to leave. You just had to deal with him one more time and hopefully, you would never have to see his obnoxiously hideous face ever again.
Maybe you should consider spitting on a patron’s food next time, so they would have no interest in returning due to the bad service or unpleasant food ever again. Well, you’ll keep that in mind.
For now, you were trying to make yourself look as collected as possible despite attempting to hide your disgust on his predatory eyes. He neared toward where you were sitting, which was behind the cashier machine and you tried not to vomit right there.
“How much is it, hot stuff?” You couldn't mask your repugnance at his catcalling. But you neglected it, maintaining your professionalism.
“That’ll be $4.50, and don’t call me hot stuff.”
“Then give me your name, sweet cheeks.” He winked and crudely smirked at you as if he had just aced the last word. The truth was… It only made the idea of spilling a drink on his pants even more intriguing.
“Are you going to pay for your meal or not?” Then he scrambled through his pocket to unfold his wallet then he pulled out a few bucks and placed it on the counter in front of you. You took it without giving him a convivial look and a thank you, and immediately placed the money in the cashier machine.
“No smile for me? I give you some pretty generous tips there.”
“Go fuck yourself. Your tips’ pretty average anyway.” Then you turned your body against him but he abruptly stopped by harshly grabbing your wrist. You tried to release it out of his vicious grip, but this obnoxious man was much stronger than your liking.
“Let go of me!”
“You fucking rude bitch couldn’t even give me a smile, huh? I could get your ass fired out of here, you know that?”
“I said let go!”
What you didn’t notice was the inscrutable man who was sitting in the corner booth, had gotten up and approached the scene. He stood right next to the man that was harassing you, and he immediately put his hand on his shoulder. “Hey, pal, let the lady go, alright? She’s not interested.”
“Who the fuck are you? Mind your own fuckin’ business, pal.” Then he released your wrist and immediately pushed the enigmatic man by the shoulders and it elicited a fire out of him. He didn’t look the slightest bit frenzied but he looked rather enlivened by the son of a bitch’s ineptitude and he was primed for whatever was going to go down. He then pushed the schmuck back, catching him off guard.
“You’re gonna regret that.” He sneered through his wounded ego. The mysterious man only kept his cold-hard stare at him and stood unwaveringly. The obnoxious man then threw a punch at him but he effortlessly dodged it like he saw it coming, then he miserably tried to throw a punch at him once more, but was caught and stopped effortlessly with only a single clench of his hand, then the mysterious man incased his fist and twisted it to the point where the schmuck gave away his pain through his face.
“Who regrets it, now?” The mysterious man gritted as his nostrils flared. The obnoxious man was shorter than him but somehow, he seemed into shrank down before this man.
“Not so tough now huh? You gonna say something? Hmm?”
“No, please, please! I’ll fucking leave, just let me go!” He begged through his visible terror.
He let him go with a slight push and the obnoxious man instantly fled and ran for his life. He exited through the door and didn’t look back.
After the mysterious man made sure that the little coward was out of sight, he shifted his gaze to your direction and his energy immediately improved. It turned into a warmer, more civil look. In fact… He seemed a little nervous. He was so certain of himself when he tamed down that bastard, but now he looked like a shy man who was nervous to talk to a pretty lady.
“You uh… You okay?”
“Yeah,” you nodded. “Thank you.” You threw him a tiddly smile to truly show your gratitude. But you were also a tad amused by the rapid transformation in him.
“No problem. So uh… Do you deal with those kinda assholes often?”
“On some unfortunate days, yeah. There are two types of assholes though. One who miserly tips and the other who’s like the one you just terrorized to death.”
“Yeah, it can get pretty unpredictable working here, huh?”
“You got that right.” You sighed as you placed your hand on the counter to lean on it.
“So, do I get to know the name of my knight in shining armour?”
He shook his head and chuckled and if your vision wasn’t playing tricks on you, you think he was even slightly blushing.
“The name’s Frank. Frank Castle.”
“Well, Frank, Frank Castle… My name’s y/n. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” You shook hands whilst still maintaining unfaltering eye contact with the man. You chatted for a while before he paid for his meal and said his goodbye. You couldn’t remember seeing a smile on his dashing face before that. But you were glad that you did before he was out of sight.
“I’ll see you around.” Those four words loomed in your head throughout the entire day, making you smile like a starstruck idiot. You took the bus to ride back home and you put on your favourite happy song. You couldn’t remember the last time you felt this giddy. You didn’t have a clue as to when you were going to see this man again but, you sure as hell were going to meet him in your daydream.
Evening shift:
After being kicked out of every local bar, Sweeney's drinking options were becoming thin.
Sure he could just buy whiskey from the grocery store and drink it from the bottle but that was verging on being the drunk under the bridge territory and he'd had enough of that for one lifetime. He certainly didn't miss the thumping hangovers or the aches of sleeping on the cold ground. He definitely didn't miss the gobshite kids who kicked him whilst he was asleep for fun or who stole the last of his alcohol.
For having a lucky coin, he sure did run into a lot of problems and they'd all started when he'd left Illinios in disgrace. Brooklyn hadn't been much more welcoming but at least he could make fun of the “Irish” bars that seemed to dot about the place....maybe he shouldn't have made as much fun as he did because he was thirsty and it was a need only booze would fill.
He stumbled upon a diner, unassuming and hidden and with that faded flaking majesty of an era long gone by, an era Sweeney missed fondly because you could get a slice of pie and a hard drink for little cash and every now and then he'd catch a glimpse of some lady's stocking top as a gust of wind hit.
He pulled his denim jacket around him, wishing it was still socially acceptable to have cloaks before pushing the door open where an old fashioned bell above tinkled. He could tell this place was a relic but he already loved it for that.
He walked to the red stools next to the counter and relished the warmth of the place and the wafting smell of coffee that lingered and mixed with the scent of pastry.
Sweeney wasn't expecting you to pop up from behind the counter as suddenly as you did and he clutched his chest as he flinched.
“Fuckin' hell!” he exclaims.
“Sorry!” you look mortified to have made him jump. “People keep dropping things over here.”
He wished he could say he was a gentleman and looked at your face first but....he didn't. His eyes travelled up the waitress uniform, following the line of your body until he finally lingered on the sweet face that was shyly tucking a stray hair behind the ear.
“Not to worry, little lasslin'. Woke me up. Got any whiskey for a weary man?”
“I sure do but not the expensive stuff.”
“I'm not particular,” he tries for a charming smile, hoping it lands.
“One whiskey coming up,” you smile back, although he's sure it's your default customer smile.
Nice all the same.
It had been a long time since a bonnie girl had smiled at him.
You brought the whiskey over as he was playing with his coin and your eyes immediately darted to it. Sweeney could see the flare of interest there.
“That's unusual,” you nod at it. “Seems old. Family heirloom?”
“You could say that,” he chuckles, holding it out for you to take.
He watches you study it, feeling an almost sense of pride that for once someone was interested in something that was essentially him and not what he could do for them. When your fingers trace the lines of the sun, he's mesmerised by the care you're taking with it.
“It's really pretty,” you hand it back.
He leans forward and you lean in too, “Not as pretty as you, mind.”
You took it in the spirit it was meant and didn't give him a slap so that was encouraging at least. He twirls the coin between his fingers before presenting it again.
“They say this is the very treasure of the sun. It bestows luck to whoever holds it n' the sun's good grace.”
“I could do with some of that right now,” you laugh.
“Got some problems?”
“There was an incident this morning with a customer,” you sigh, smoothing down the apron but you didn't elaborate. “Happens.”
“Well I tell ya what. I like this place already and so long as I'm around, no fucker is gonna spoil yer day. How about that?”
“What's your name?” you ask.
“Sweeney.”
“Nice to meet you Sweeney. Can I get anything else for you?”
“What's the best pie ya got?”
“Apple is always the favourite but between you and me, the Mississippi Mud Pie is better,” you whisper conspiratorially. “But don't tell my boss I said that.”
“Not a word,” he zips over his mouth before draining his glass. “One a' that then, lasslin' n' another whiskey.”
Sweeney can't help but watch you as you work, setting the glass down in front of him before serving him up a slice and he notes you look around to check as if you're doing something you shouldn't before putting both cream and ice cream on the side. You pass it along to him with a finger over your lips.
“You're only supposed to get one technically,” you wink.
“Yer very good to me, sweetheart,” Sweeney smiles broadly. “This is already my favourite diner I've ever been too n' don't worry, I'll keep my promise. Nobody will insult ya, hurt ya or upset ya whilst I'm here.”
“I'd best serve some other customers. Don't want them to think I'm playing favourites,” you give him a tiny wave before scooting off to refill coffee.
You were right, the pie was fantastic and he almost cried to discover the ice cream appeared to be the homemade variety. It had been so long so he'd had any type of cream that wasn't artificial. He was so sick of being summoned to his worshipper's homes and given dime store whip that tasted like the back end of a plastic conveyor belt.
He put down his money, giving a large tip and sliding it near to where you were making cocoa for someone. He ended up doing a coin trick out of habit which you watched with raptured interest before taking the cash.
“Thanks,” you smile brightly at him. “I'm heading off after this, split shift wears a girl out but if you ever come back, you have to teach me how to do that.”
“I'll teach ya anything ya want for good conversation and more pie,” he laughs.
“Deal. See you around Sweeney,” you head into the back room to change before a surly looking older man comes out to replace you.
This man wasn't nearly as interesting as you were and Sweeney's attention went back to drinking. Funnily enough, he'd forgotten all about that burning thirst to get obliterated when talking to you. There was something so easygoing, so comfortable about you that it felt like he'd lifted his head above the fog of his alcoholism for the first time in years.
Oh he'd definitely be back alright. He wouldn't fuck things up this time. He really liked it here.
And as he watched you in your normal clothes stride out into the darkening night, he thought maybe ending up here was lucky after all.
